34 week update. Placenta accrete

After going through the strain of IVF, fibroid surgery, I have now developed placenta accrete 😥 I will be put to sleep under general anaesthetic, arterial balloons in my groin to help bleeding, hysterectomy and first night spent in intensive care away from the baby. I just feel devastated, frightened, I am so worried I won’t wake up after the procedure that I’ve had panic attacks and now taking antidepressants. Has anyone experienced placenta accrete that has some positive stories to share xxx

I’ve never heard of it but I just looked it up, I’m so sorry you’ve got this complication. I wish you well for the procedure, you will be just fine. It’s the last tough hurdle for you I hope xxx

I’m so sorry you are going through this after you’ve had such a tough journey to get pregnant it’s crap. I’ve not experienced the same but I’ve had 4 surgeries & been under 4 times & I’m still here!My first anaesthetic I was terrified wanted to cancel it but remember you will be in safe hands. I think the surgeons have to inform you of the risks however small they are, if they don’t have to do a hysterectomy they won’t. When I had my hysteroscopy ( in 2015 way before Francesca) they warned me if I bled excessively they might have to perform a hysterectomy if it meant saving my life I was so frightened I would be that 1-10 it happened to I wouldn’t have been able to give my hubby a child it terrified me😳Easier said than done try not worry & focus on meeting your new baby 🙂 I look forward to seeing a update & picture of your beautiful baby you can do this. All the best hope it’s not as bad as you are imagining it to be xxx

I am so sorry you are going through this. I would be totally devastated and besides myself with fear. I am sure you are but I would be arming myself with all the facts. brighamandwomens.org/obgyn/...

A friend had this condition and had the casearan and then the surgery (she didn’t have a a hysterectomy) under epidural so that she could be awake for her baby. I would also be putting together a written plan for the hospital, I am not sure when they are taking you in but if after 36 weeks you could hand pump some of your colustrum as you won’t be there you or you could maybe join a breast milk scheme so that your baby doesn’t need formula...depends on your preferences but you see what I mean? I’d have a solid plan of how I and the baby should be treated based on the research.

Discard all that if you like, mainly I wanted to say I’d be heartbroken too. I am sure like you found the strength to make it through ivf that you’ll find the strength to recover from this. Sending lots of love cxxxx

I can’t imagine what you’re going through. After achieving an ICSI pregnancy I was devastated to find out I had placenta previa at 20weeks, and that I wasn’t allowed to go into labour. I was given steroids at 35weeks for babies lungs and booked in for c section at 38 weeks. Anyway it was all fine and my little girl will be 3 this month!

The hospital treat Ivf pregnancies really cautiously. It absolutely sucks that you can’t be awake for the birth but you will come round to a beautiful little baby, and you must focus on that. I found a lovely hypnobirthing teacher who gave me some useful advise for staying calm, might be worth thinking about if you’re into that.

Not sure what you’re thinking about breast feeding, but I managed to feed her straight away after c section without any issues at all. Your case is different to mine but you can certainly start harvesting milk/colostrum now until you come round.

You will be absolutely fine at home with your new baby this Christmas xxx
