I’m going to be embarking on ivf treatment in Prague.
I’ve had one failed round in the UK and not entitled to anymore funding.
The Prague clinic is asking for hormonal profile - FSH, LH, E2, TSH, prolactin and AMH to be collected during period days 2-4) are these all separate blood tests? I know you can’t get the AMH on the NHS but can you get any of the others? Any advise on this and where to go would be appreciated. I live in the North West.
They have also requested for an ultrasound scan.
Thanks
Kirsty x

I had treatment in Czech Republic too. I used a private fertility specialist. My clinic accepted some of my previous blood results and wanted new results for others. You will need to find a private clinic that can help you as you will need ongoing scans and possibly other tests. Will the clinic you have already seen see you as a private patient? It’s worth asking. Good luck xx
The clinic I had the 1st round was through the Nhs and they have let us down badly. We were promised 3 rounds but they’ve now told us that we can’t have anymore. Hence the reason we’re going overseas as we can’t afford to do it in this country. Ideally I wouldn’t want to have to go back to them because of how they have handled it all. We even had the clinical director of the hospital ringing up to apologise for what’s happened.
But thanks for the advise, I will look at local fertility specialists.
I’m still waiting on my medical records to come back xx
Unfortunately unlikely 😒 can you go to a private lab/doctors in the Czech Republic? I did all my thyroid tests while on holiday in Poland. I suspect they will have similar private labs like we have in Poland xx
Hi, I got my thyroid tests done with an online company Thriva. I definitely recommend them, had the results back in a couple of days. Trying to get an appt with my GP is a nightmare! X
Yeh it’s the same with me. And I know they don’t do the amh test. I’ve been skeptical about the effectiveness of doing the home tests but if you say there good maybe for ease I’ll use this option xx thank you!
Hi Kirsty, I managed to get my GP to do my bloods. However I may just have been incredibly lucky. I explained our situation, that our NHS rounds has failed and we were going elsewhere. I did say we would pay if we had to but he didnt make us. The other option is medichecks do online bloods, you can check there. Good luck.xx
My doctor does know the situation as I went in because of my anxiety and having panic attacks after learning the latest blow about the funding. Maybe they would do them for me. I will give them a call on Monday. Thank you xxx
I also am having treatment in Prague. Like yourself I was requested to get all these bloods done too. My gp did them all for me. I did have to pay extra for the amh blood test as it was sent to a specialist lab but all the rest were covered under normal gp cost. I did have to google a local private clinic that could do my ultrasounds for me as you do have to have these done in your own country (mine being Ireland) and then get the results emailed to your clinic in Prague.
I know it all sounds very stressful at the start, but honestly once you find a clinic for your ultrasound your sorted. For me changing to Prague from Irish fertility clinic was the best thing I ever did.
Thanks for this ☺️ I’m a little confused by the email from the clinic. Do you have to have the blood tests and scan done when your on your period? It says on the email between period days 2-4. X
Yes, as soon as my period came I rang my doctors and booked the bloods for the next day... so for me that was day two of my period. I can’t remember if I had the ultrasound done at the same time as I’ve had a few done at this stage as I’ve already done egg collection and am on my second FET at the moment. So I would email your clinic in Prague to confirm this with you. I found with my clinic in Prague they always were great at getting back to any questions I would have on the same day, so if your unsure about anything just ask, that’s what they are there for.
I had 5 rounds of icsi in Ireland, all pretty much disaster rounds. Only ever getting 2 blastocysts from 5 rounds and then my clinic did transfers with lining under 7mm.
Went to Prague, much gentler round of stims. Got 5 blastocysts in the freezer from first egg collection. First transfer I got a bfp, but unfortunately ended in a chemical miscarriage. Just had my second FET last Thursday so in the middle of another 2ww.
Thank you ☺️ all the best for you too 🤞🏼🤞🏼 praying for 2020 babies for us all 💖
Hey kirsydeane112, just wanted to wish you the very best of luck, I have my treatment in Brno which is in the Czech Republic, they have been really good and being away from home makes me feel more relaxed so hopefully will be the same for you to x
That’s where I’m going - Brno. We’re you on short protocol? I was surprised when they told me the treatment plan. It’s very different to my first round in the uk.
Have you had one round with them? Where are you up to with it? Xx
Brno is a lovely town, I'm 42 now do unfortunately have always had to self fund. My first cycle was privately funded NHS and my cycle was abandoned due to not responding and was told my only option DE, my first fresh transfer had a BFP which sadly ended in miscarriage then had 3 frozen transfers, 2 BFN's and then a BFP which ended in a chemical pregnancy. In the meantime I had an in-depth blood test to test immunity and it was highlighted that this could have been the issue and they changed my protocol. I had a fresh transfer last Tues with a new donor so currently on 2ww, the clinic have always been open to trying new things and have had no complaints.
Let me know if you want to know anything about Brno, are you staying in the city? Xx
I’m sorry for your miscarriages. I’ve also had 2 this year. It’s so hard but you’ve just got to keep on going. I’ve got everything crossed for you that this is going to work out this time. I know the 2ww is torturous but tbh the whole process is. So much waiting around for results.
Yes we will be staying in the city as yet we’ve not booked anything, we are going to do it nearer the time. They are going off my November period so they said egg collection will be in December. Just concerned as I know they close on the 20th December for 2 weeks and I hope it’s not going to mess anything up. Xxx
So sorry to hear that you too have had to go through miscarriages,it is tough but we do have to keep going and chatting to other ladies going through the same thing really helps. We just stayed in a lovely apartment called Three Princes,we had the apartment with the terrace, also stayed in Bishop Apartments which were lovely, there are lots of places to choose from. Hopefully you will get to go in December, they have the Christmas markets so is a really nice time to go,we went begin Dec last year xx
Thanks for these recommendations I definitely want to stay somewhere nice and comfortable. I’ll check these places out. I’ve the Christmas markets there are nice, did you to Prague as well? Or just stay in Brno? Xx
A lot of the apartments don't have English TV Channels but the apartment we had in the Three Princes we could log into our Netflix!
We haven't ventured into Prague but apparently it's easy to get to by train,as is Vienna xx
