I am planning to have my first IVF procedure in Prague next month. I had an email from them with some blood tests required and a letter from my GP/specialist to confirm that I am fit for surgery however my GP said they’re unable to help. I will contact the clinic to see if there’s anyway I can get that letter required pre anesthesia in Prague, in the meantime wanted to see if anyone been in this situation before? can I get the letter from a private GP? Thank you in advance for any respone, guess first time can be a bit confusing😊

Ivf abroad-were to do the pre op tests in Uk?
Hello - I have also been looking at IVF abroad, and people in this lovely forum recommended Medichecks for affordable blood tests. Access - the finance people - also offer test bundles, and Hertility have an at-home test if you just need a few results. All the best!
hi, thanks for your reply, will have a look at Medichecks if not blood tests and ecg can do abroad, the letter worries me as they said usually GP confirms/gives a fit note and my GP said is not part of their services . x
That’s a shame, I’ve been lucky as my gp has been kind on blood tests etc but I do understand they’re expensive so not all will want to. Are you in the UK? Can you try 111 for a fit note?
Randox do lots of blood tests including female hormone bundle. I have used them for bloods, can book online.x
Thank you! That’s a lot of tests in the bundle so great value 👍🏻👍🏻
I’m not with Prague but I’m going to my clinic the day before and they’ll do the ‘fit for surgery’ pre-op and I’ll have the procedure the day after.
I did all the preoperative tests in Czech Republic/Slovakia in my EC cycle.
Bloods were done at my ivf clinic in Brno, then we had the ECG/AKG at an internist in Slovakia during the stim period, only because we were traveling there between appointments.
I'd check whether your clinic can do the bloods and ask them to refer you to an internal doctor in town (or you can find one on google map) who can do the ECG.
Then travel a couple of days earlier than required first scan if needed - as you are self funded you will be able to get a slot on a relatively short notice.
Even if your clinic doesn't do the blood draw, which would be steange as they would still have to do your STD tests and send to their partner lab anyway, there are several private labs offering very affordable (some are ridiculously cheap compared to those in the UK) tests all over CZ: Spadia, Synlab, Aeskulab/Unilab - prices are on their website.
You just need to know exactly which tests are required, go to a walk-in blood collection point near your hotel and pay there as a "samoplátce (self-payer)". Results will be ready next day but you might have to collect them in person if you don't have a CZ phone number ready.
PM me if you need more detail
Thank you, I’ve been in contact with my clinic in the meantime and gave me a referral for rest of tests and will do in Prague.I already had hormones, AMH and smear test done with them at my first visit to the clinic, but they’ve asked for further blood tests before egg retrieval.
