Hello everyone I have no experience at all with IVF and need advice on cost of medication in the UK.
My partner and I have decided to go and have our IVF privately in Prague since it's cheaper over there than in UK. We've done our research and found a nice clinic in Prague. My question is how easy is it to get the medication over here in the UK with a prescription from Prague. Any recommendations where I can get discounted medication .
My prescription is as follows:
3 pens of Puregon 900 IUI
5x Orgalutran
1 x Ovitrelle

Hi, ASDA pharmacies will give you a very fair price but be warned, they will not accept foreign prescriptions. So unless you want to book an appointment for your local GP to reissue the prescription, they are a no go. I used Fertility2U (online), where your clinic fax or scan them your prescription. You then phone in and they take all your details, you pay over the phone and the medication is couriered to you on a day and at a time of your choosing. I have used them twice and cannot fault them They are not bargain-basement but are reasonable, I didn't feel like I was being fleeced.
I hope this helps. All the best to you xx Prague is a stunning city 👍
I went to CR also but had my treatment in Brno, I actually used ASda for my drugs and didn't have an issue that it was a foreign prescription ( original prescription not a copy). Although I had DE in Brno, so didn't need stimulation drugs. Oh and this was around 2 years ago.
It is worth trying Asda...I went to two within a 30 mile radius of my home and they both refused to honour an original prescription! Could be I was just massively unlucky
My clinic had a pharmacy that they use in the UK and had the drugs couriered to me once I'd paid for them. Might be worth seeing if your clinic have some place they use and what the costs involved are. Best of luck!xx
surrogacy is the best option ever found. I am also 33 and my low ovarian reserve has hindered my infertility. And initially, I opted for a consultation meeting with a lot of clinics and that turned very bad. They didn't return my reports and claimed to be lost and took no responsibility. After the 2 months of disappointment. I found another clinic with a friend of mine, and I regret no more. They give you the best recommendations according to your condition and quality of the eggs. In my case, my eggs were not valid, so I had to go donor eggs.so be careful when choosing clinics everyone,
HI there! I am new to this forum. Your discussion caught my attention. I am wondering if you haven’t had experience with IVF? You should consult a medical specialist. As in the UK, no pharmacy would give you a drug without a prescription. I have been through 1 Ivf cycle, was getting my treatment in a really good hospital. I had a little difficulty with the supply of shots in my 4th month. While I had my conception after the Ivf transfer. In my initial period, my doctor had warned me to have an adequate supply of shots. Which, I had to collect from their own pharmacy. It happens so that the medicine available there would not be available anywhere else. I called up my doctor they gave me an alternate name for the same one. Even mailed me their subscription signed and addressing the pharmacy I had to buy it from. That’s how I managed to continue. I hope my story helps you get an idea.
