Hi all I’m new to this site and just signed up. I’m on my second Icsi cycle. First cycle I only had 7 follicles and only one made it passed egg retrieval and made it to day three then no progress. I was taking 250mg of gonul f. I’m on my second cycle taking 400mg of menopur and 0.2 of buserelin. I just had my first scan and I have 8 follicles. One is already 20mm and the rest are between 4mm and 10mm. They said they may have to abandon this course as the follicles aren’t working together. I feel useless and emotional. Has anyone else had this problem xx

Hi my first cycle was abandoned due to OHSS (so the opposite to you Cos mine reacted too quickly) it’s horrible especially when you’ve waited so long to start etc. I’m due to start again next week and I’m scared the same thing will happen again, so I feel your pain. Have they said what your next steps are? Xxx
Hi everhopeful83 thank you for responding. They have said to scan me again on Friday at 11am. I’ve been told to rest also. I just feel like an emotional mess. I didn’t feel like this last time. I’m gonna be honest I feel like I’m wasting a course. I just feel like I’m doing something wrong. I really hope your next course is positive and runs smoothly. Xx
Try to drink lots of water & try keep calm, a lot can change in just a couple of days, other ladies say this on here all the time and it is so true. Don’t lose hope just yet! I’m rooting for you 💗🤞🏼 thanks for your positive wishes xxx
Hi Kelz86. So sorry to hear that your cycle is not going as hoped. Nobody wants to have to abandon a cycle, but you will have to see what Friday brings, and whether there are a few more follicles to use. If the others don't catch up, then there is a chance that the largest follicle at the moment might ovulate. It may be a case of back to the drawing board and decide a slightly different medication for you, I don't know. If it should come to that, I do have a couple of lists of questions I could email you to go through before another consultation. If you want them at any time, just email me in confidence to support@fertilitynetworkuk.org and i will get them to you. Thinking of you. Diane
I’m on my second cycle in the 2ww. We had a dominant follicle on the first cycle - 3 eggs retrieved but 2 immature and we only just made it to transfer with one poor quality embryo on day 2. We were worried we’d have a dominant follicle on the second cycle so the consultant increased the dose to 450 menopur. First scan on day 6 again showed one dominant follicle 17mm and the rest below 10mm. By the second scan on day 8, the others had started to catch up so we carried on stimming aiming to get the smaller ones and let the big one go. We got 4 eggs but again only 1 made it to transfer. I’m hoping it works this time. I think it is difficult for them to try and address the difference in sizes, but a long protocol with down reg may be something to ask about? Xx
We had 11 follicles at the baseline scan. By day 10 scan we had 6 follicles that had responded to the meds but some were too small and some were too big. I think you might be on a short protocol (antagonist) where you start injections between day 1-3 of your cycle? There’s another protocol called long protocol (agonist) which usually starts from day 21 of your precious cycle. It is used to shut down the ovaries before stimulation in the next cycle. There are a number of different protocols, Diane is probably more clued up on them and probably has information she can share. Hopefully your Next scan will go well x
Thanks for replying hun. I did think we were gonna be on the long protocol as they said something about me injecting and basically putting my eggs to sleep then waking them up. I’m guessing this is what you mean. But I’ve gone on the process where I started on day 2. As you have been on menopur how did it make you feel? I’ve felt awful today to the point where I couldn’t get up for work. I’ve felt weak all day and really sleepy. Last night I couldn’t get comfortable at all. Did you have these same issues? Thank you for replying and explaining I appreciate it xx
I think the higher doses don’t help. I felt tired and had headaches on menopur. It’s not too long to go, take it easy and rest if you can x
