Hi everyone
I just wanted to share the wonderful news that our boy Harlan was born a healthy 3.035kg @ 36 weeks 5 days on the 25th Sep after what seemed to be a failure of our second round of IVF.
After our only NHS round resulted in a BFN (fresh transfer) we embarked on a 3 cycle package. Our first cycle we only got one egg that fertilised normally out of two collected. The original plan was to freeze/bank embryos over 3 private rounds due to my low AMH and low number of follicles after max stims. However, when we only had the one egg fertilise and the embryologist said it was average quality and they weren’t sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 I made the last minute decision on day 3 to have a fresh transfer. I’m so grateful I did as I had my first ever BFP and now I’m holding my boy. It was a stressful pregnancy and I found it hard to accept he would actually be born but now he is here and we are so grateful that IVF made this possible.
Just wanted to share some hope for those out there like me who do not manage to get many eggs retrieved or have been told their embryos were graded average. In my case it really did only take one egg. Sending lots of luck to you all xx
