Spotting and clots 5 weeks 3 days pregnant UPDATED

I woke up to a loss of sore boobs and went to the toilet to wipe and saw that I was spotting brown blood which now includes clots. Waiting for the clinic to open so I can speak to them. Panicking.

Spoke to the clinic and was told that it’s quite common and that because the clots are smaller than a 5p and the blood is old it’s no cause for alarm. Was told to rest and to keep taking the progesterone. She did say that they can’t scan me as it might show nothing and that this could go either way. Watch this space for the next two days. Feeling helpless.

Thank you. I’ve just spoken to a friend who had ivf too and she said the ‘bleed’ she experienced was from the pessaries. So hopefully it’s the same.

Sounds positive - hope so - all you can do is follow the advice they give you - look after and pamper yourself - home facial and pedicure?? Good luck, praying for ongoing good news for you xx

Hi I had exactly the same as you brown blood and clots. I also had a tiny bit of bright red blood and called the clinic who basically told me if I was going to lose it there is nothing anyone could do. However a few days later we had our first scan and there was our little one heart beat nice and strong. They had a look around and said it looked like I had extra mucus on the lining which was slightly irritated that caused the clots, fortunately it's nowhere near the baby. I switched from doing the pessaries vaginally to rectally and have pretty much stopped bleeding altogether now. Hope your first scan goes well xx

Hi CC2018, thank you for reply. It seems to have significantly slowed down! I’m hoping it’s just irritation to the pessaries. My consultant has just said to await the scan. My boobs were very sore a week ago but the symptom seem to have gone. Still getting slight period cramping pains. Fingers crossed. Thank you x
