Im not sure if you will be able to give any advice but 14 years ago i had leukaemia and my treatment involved chemo and total body radiation for stem cell transplant. My periods stopped straight away and i went into early menopause at 20! I went to see a fertility clinic years ago as i was interested in ivf with egg donation but they said that the radiation would have caused to much damage to the uterus and it wouldnt work, but they never did any tests!. A few months ago i asked for tests and had a transvaginal ultrasound, there was no obvious damage, the scan just showed i had a thin uterus lining, so the doctor put me on oestrogen 3 times a day for 8 weeks to see if it will thicken and see if egg donation would be possible. Im now on week 6 and lately im getting alot of discharge, mostly creamy and very very stretchy and my nipples are very sensitive, does this mean my lining is getting thicker?
My next scan is in 2 weeks and im very impatient
Has anyone else been through cancer treatment and been successful with egg donation? Ive never really heard anything about total body radiation and egg donation which probably isnt a good sign :/
Xxx

I have a friend at work who is currently 14 weeks following egg donation. She had bowel cancer a few years ago so obviously had radiation to the abdomen. Even though they moved her ovaries out of the way before treatment she failed to get pregnant with her own eggs. I don’t think they ever told her that she couldn’t carry a child.
I'm a chemotherapy nurse and we treated a young lady (21 at the time) for leukaemia - no transplant but very high dose chemo. She's had 2 children since (this was 9 years ago now) so anything is possible! She was told she'd probably never have another baby, she had a 9 month old when diagnosed. The issue is more your eggs, not your uterine lining from what i know... medication should be a possibility. Best of luck! Xx
ah ok. I forgot to mention this lady conceived naturally twice, not donor eggs! I also have a friend who's husband had testicular cancer and they conceived naturally after he had surgery (twins!) xxx
Hello, I’m not in the same position as you but very similar all the same. I just wanted to wish you luck. My husband has Hodgkin’s lymphoma and also had to have complete body radiation for a stem cell transplant. We are in the mists of it all. I have just started a frozen cycle and we are also waiting on the results of his last scan to see if he will finally be in remission. Xxxxx
