Blocked tubes but no hydrosalpinx?

Yesterday I had a lap and dye to see conclusively whether one or both or my tubes were blocked and needed tying (HSG and ultrasound we’re inconclusive). The surgeon told me that yes, they were both blocked but no hydrosalpinx so no clipping required - what causes a blockage if not hydro and why can’t they do anything. She also said there were some cysts (didn’t seem a problem but I was 5 mins out of theatre so didn’t think to ask!) and that they ‘buzzed off’ (think that’s what she said!) some mild Endo (which I didn’t know i even had). Has anyone else been diagnosed with blocked tubes that Is not hydrosalpinx? They’ve referred me back for ivf so obviously whatever they did hasn’t changed our situation 😫

I had blocked tubes "really slow tubes" the Dye took ages to go through and didn't have no fluid in them. They told me to go straight for ivf too or I would end up having ectopic. I thought ectopic isn't going to happen as we've been trying for over two years and nothing, I also had mild endo. Anyway I did research and found it could be scar tissue or endo or both together as I had a previous section.

I researched and came across an enzyme called serrapeptase that ppl have managed to clear their tubes with I thought no harm could occur so I bought some after three months I was pregnant but lost straight away then a few month later fell on again had am early scan and I had implanted in the womb but stopped growing at 6 weeks medical management at 8 week then fell on straight after again baby was I'm right place and my consultant confirmed I have indeed cleared my tubes, sadly lost that one at 6 weeks then fell on straight away again and I'm now 15 weeks. So it can happen without going for ivf in my experience. I know I'm probably a rare case but I just wanted to share my story as they didn't know what was blocking my tubes either.

Research hun before you make any decision . Good luck on your journey

Hi dims. Many reasons for tubes getting blocked, including past infections such as chlamydia, miscarriages and surgery. The problem is that you are more prone to have an ectopic pregnancy, so best to get them tied off. there could still be a little extra fluid there that could leak into the womb and prevent a developing embryo from implanting, so another reason. There shouldn't be much n the way of excessffluid, as you don't have any hydrosalpinx, but still needs to be checked out. Just wanted to wish you well with everything and for eventual success. Diane

They checked them and didn’t tie because they weren’t infected, that’s what confused me as I’ve seen little info on what would block a tube Other than hydrosalpinx. They were ‘in there’ yesterday and didn’t tie. It just baffles me!

Hi. Could be due to some scarring, but this usually happens following a past infection or abdominal surgery. perhaps ask for a copy of the findings of the laparoscopy, so you can read for yourself. Diane

Mine were sluggish and likely had endometriosis in them. I’ve never had any sti’s. Like AllWeNeedIsLuv I had a csection - maybe this caused mine or maybe endo got worse. If there’s no chance of a natural conception, and you don’t have fluid in them just go for ivf hun xx

I’ve never been pregnant, never had an STI, never had surgery etc but yeah, like you said, they’re blocked and so IVF it is. I just wonder why there is so little Info on blocked tube that are not hydrosalpinx. In January I was told it wasnt hydro, then March that it was and I would have to wait for a lap before starting IVf, had the lap yesterday, to be told it wasn’t s right back to where I started in jan!

It’s frustrating I know, I have my first consultation for IVM at the end of the month. Like me, the next thing to go for is the ivf -

I’ve moved on from the tubes and just want to get started now xx

I have blocked tubes. Mine were caused by an infection following a cone biopsy to remove abnormal cells from my cervix x
