Fluid in uterus

Hi guys

I have started the IVF process and gone through egg collection, but have continued issues with fluid in the uterus.

I had an MRI scan which didn't detect the fluid or why it's there. I had another ultra scan today and was told the fluid is still there.

Can anyone given me a perspective on this one. I was told that they will do hyesterscopy to take a biopsy and to obtain a camera view as an investigative procedure.

After which they will drain the fluid and implant... it's so confusing...I'm wondering if the hyesterscopy is necessary.. after having 3 general anesthetics this year for a myomectomy ( to remove fibroids) a previous hyesterscopy and egg retrieval...

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.xxx

I had fluid in my uterus last cycle they were worried I would have to delay ET but once I started crinone gel it reduced the fluid and I could go ahead. They did mention draining the fluid but luckily it never came to that for me, I’m due to have a hysteroscopy next year and was told I would be awake, could you ask them if general anaesthetic is necessary? Have you had your tubes checked? This is usually done by hsg or laparoscopy? There is a condition called hydrosalpinx which means there is fluid in the fallopian tubes. That fluid can sometimes leak into the uterus. I would ask about it as I find the clinics can be quite bad at not doing full investigations early enough. You would need that treating if that's the case x

Hi there, I know this is a bit of an old thread, so I hope you don't mind me hopping on. I'm new here so was just scanning through posts and yours struck me because our stories sound so similar! I wanted to see how you are, and where you're up to?

My story: Sep 2015 I miscarried after a pregnancy of unknown location, and during the subsequent scans they found I had fibroids. I had a laparoscopy & hysteroscopy in Sep 2016, and they found so many they closed me up and put me down for a myomectomy, which I had in March 2017. This was all to ready us to start IVF, and we did our first fresh transfer in Nov last year which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I was devastated but at the same time felt oddly buoyed up so we had a holiday and then went straight into frozen cycle in Jan. Three weeks into Buserelin (long 21-day protocol), they found fluid in the uterus and because my lining was also not thickening properly, we had to abandon the cycle. I'm now waiting for another hysteroscopy and my Dr wants to do it under general to have a proper look and take a biopsy, like yours does. He says he thinks I've developed delayed scar tissue from previous surgery which captures fluid in pockets, which only becomes apparent when they stretch the lining to prepare for transfer.

It's so hard to know whether to go with their recommendation isn't it? I also feel uncomfortable about going under again for this, but at the same time I can understand that getting a camera view is the only way to get clarity (also: why is the ultrasound tech SO rubbish?!)...

Did your Dr say they would recommend implantation straight away after you recover?

Hope you're feeling ok, all the unknowns really mess with your head, and after so many setbacks, I've feel so low and drained from it all. Anyway, sending love x

I have just read your post and I'm wondering how you are progressing?

I'm undergoing a 3 month course of gonapeptyl to reduce the size of my uterus and minimise fluid, I had a scan thus week which unfortunately showed that the fluid remains there.

I'm not sure what to do now and plan to seek alternative advice at a different treatment centre.

I hope things are going well for you and hope to hear from you soon.

L.xx

Hi there! I’m sorry to hear the drugs they prescribed don’t seem to be working.. That wasn’t an option I was given, my dr immediately suggested a hysteroscopy. I think it’s because my lining is so hard to determine on scans, it’s bulky with fibroids and so every doctor seems to see/say something different. I’m going in for the hysteroscopy on Monday so feeling a bit anxious. Desperately hoping they don’t find something else wrong, but my run of luck hasn’t been great so far.

I’m still being seen on the NHS, sounds like you are self-funding? How far through the three months cycle are you? What did they say when they could still see the fluid? Just carry on..?

So sorry you’re going through the mill, it is all just so horrendous when they can’t explain why things are the way they are or why treatments aren’t as effective as they expect. Sigh. Hope you find a way through it all, feel free to PM me on here if you want to chat, sending love to you, L xx
