Hi everyone, I’m about to start my 5th and final round of IVF following 4 months of Prostap. I had a saline scan with my fertility clinic in December and they said there is possibly fluid in my 1 fallopian tube. I had a laparoscopic myomectomy in August to remove endometriosis and fibroids. My gynae consultant who did the surgery was going to remove the tube but said it looked fine during surgery so he left it. I had a follow up appointment with him last week, where I sent him the results of the saline scan. He now wants me to have an ultrasound scan to see if there is actually fluid in my tube!
I’ve had 11 surgeries since 2014 to remove endometriosis and fibroids, and get my uterus ready for IVF. I really don’t want to go through the stress of having more surgery. The saline scan showed that my myometrium lining is so thin that my uterus might not be able to sustain a pregnancy. This may have been caused by having so many surgeries. I’m really not keen on having any more. I’m really frustrated.
Sorry for the long post. My questions are around whether anyone has had a successful pregnancy with fluid in their Fallopian tube? Is there a way to fix the fluid issue without having surgery e.g. medication?

Hi Pink Laura, I have fluid in my left fallopian tube (hydrosalpinx) and a history of recurrent miscarriages (x5) with no other fertility issues. My IVF consultant recommended that I have my left tube removed before proceeding with another transfer as it has been shown that hydrosalpinx can cause implantation issues and miscarriages.I am scheduled to have my surgery on 5th February, my surgeon will check the right tube also as this could not been seen in the MRI, if this is damaged to he will remove it also. Definitely talk through your options with your ivf consultant, they mare best equipped to advise you.
Hi lovely,So sorry to hear about all of your surgeries so far, sounds like you've worked incredibly hard to be where you are now!
I had fluid in both of my tubes due to scarring which without surgery, I wasn't eligible for IVF of the NHS. I was told by my fertility clinic that it's because is decreases your chances of IVF working by 50% more as the fluid is toxic to an embryo and it will eventually spill into the uterus. I ended up having both of my tubes removed and am now super thankfully 23 weeks pregnant after 2 rounds
I don't believe that there is a non surgical solution as that's what I would've picked for sure - we ended up paying for the surgery too as the wait list was 18 months in our locality
So sorry I don't have more positive information for you but I hope it helps you make your decision
Hi Emilye92x, thanks so much for your reply and also congrats on your pregnancy (that’s really positive news)! Surgery definitely sounds like it will be the only option for me but I’ll see what the next scan brings up. It’s been such a hard journey so far x
