Cyclogest and Vitex?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me as Dr Google was useless, and Dr Specialist even worse! After 11 months of being seen by various fertility specialists and expecting no support from our last appointment before being referred for IVF, my dh and I decided I'd try vitex to help a hormonal imbalance for our last two cycles before IVF. I'm on day 14 of my cycle and 12 days of taking vitex. Today was my last appointment with the fertility specialist, and 11 months after first asking for it, I have finally been prescribed cyclogest! Brilliant. But what do I do about the vitex? Do I continue with the vitex only for this cycle? Should I stop taking the vitex now and take cyclogest from 2dpo onwards? Should I take them both together? Or should I just stop the vitex if this month is unsuccessful and take the cyclogest from next month onwards? Any advice would be so gratefully received as I'm very confused about what to do and do not want to harm any chance we may have. Thank you

If it was me and that's only if it was me I'd keep taking the vitex and when I got a bfp start taking the cyclogest stop taking vitex. That's just me though hun. Xx

Thanks for your thoughts hun. I'll certainly consider this (oh if only to get a bfp 💞😀) xx

Hi Jacqui84. Obviously this is your decision, as Vitex is just a herb which works similarly to Cyclogest, perhaps just continue with that for now, then start with Cyclogest if it doesn't work. If you get pregnant, then maybe swap to Cyclogest?? Get it verified with your specialist before you do that though. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with - and for success. Diane

Thank you Diane. Unfortunately the specialist today had no advice as she'd not heard of vitex/chasteberry so couldn't advise how they'd interact. I think I'm mostly worried the vitex will attempt to rebalance the cyclogest and make it less effective, and I don't want to reduce the effects of either. I'll definitely be sure to let the doctors know if we get a bfp. I may continue with the vitex only for the remainder of this month and see where we get to, unless someone is able to offer a similar experience.

Hi Jacqui84. Well, you've thought that out thoroughly, so well done, and your specialist is aware. I agree that I would only use one or the other and not mix the two. Hope all ends successfully with whatever method you choose. Diane

Thanks for confirming my thoughts Diane, it's reassuring coming from you. And I've become a bid of a pro at thoroughly thinking through (or overthinking) everything going through this process!!
