I stopped taking the contraceptive pill on Friday and will be starting the progesterone patches at my next cycle which should be in 3 - 7 days time. I will be going for embryo transfer sometime from mid November to the beginning of December. I'm feeling a bit isolated so looking for other ladies who are going through egg donation treatment to share experiences with.
Just starting this journey myself. Been taking the pill for last month. Been a delay in selecting a donor probably won't be having embryo transfer until New Year now. I'm going to a clinic in Spain.
Nice to hear from you. I have now started the patches. I'm with the Institute Marques in Barcelona and they have been very good and quick, would definitely recommend.
We are using IVI in Barcelona. The delay is because we have opted for a screening test. We went to Ivi end of September and would have gone for embryo transfer in November had we not opted for this test. Definitely the quickest way to go using Spain.
How are you feeling on the patches, I won't know the regime until they find the donor. Did you get the patches prescribed by your GP?
I hope everything goes well. Good to "talk" to someone else going through it.
Nice to hear from you. I'm fine on the patches I can't feel them they are very light to wear. I don't feel like anything is being injected it's very different from IVF. All my medication has been prescribed by the fertility clinic in Barcelona. The NHS won't support me at all with this. I have a provisional date for embryo transfer 14th November. I feel excited and anxious as it's getting so close. A few days before transfer I have to start using the pessaries and that's all the medication. Let me know how you get on and if you need to know any thing else about the procedure just let me know. Take Care. Tasha
Hi Tasha, hope all is going well. Just thought I'd drop a quick message, nothing happening here, think it will be around Christmas when they select a donor. I've been advised I can stop the pill for now, it's frustrating now we've started the process I just want things to keep moving forward. I'm 42 at Christmas and would have loved to have had embryo transfer before.
Lovely to hear from you. I'm so sorry to hear you have had to stop. Before I started my egg donation it was stop and start for me and I know exactly how you are feeling. Don't worry about your age I'm 43 and there are ladies much older than us who are going for egg donation. So enjoy your birthday and look after yourself. Try and think of the positives, the clinic want to find the best donor for you for this to be successful. Once they have the donor you will be flying along. I have my embryo transfer on Tuesday going to Barcelona tomorrow. This has all happened within a few days and I feel my body and mind is so much better than this time last year. By the way have you asked the clinic for the donor to be under the age of 30? That will give you a better chance.
They only use donors under 35, we've had a screening test to see if my partner is a carrier for around 500 different conditions some very rare. This means they will need to select a donor who does not carry the same if they pick anything up for my partner. Yeah I'm hoping the younger the better re the donor. I hope you have a good flight and fingers crossed for Tuesday!
Hope you are well. Just to let you know that my embryo transfer went very well. Since I have been back my clinic in London wanted to monitor my progesterone so I have been taking medication for that. Also Clexain twice a day to get the blood to the uterus. I have some lovely bruises on my tummy and bottom! Tasha
Glad to hear everything went well. How long do you have to wait now to do a test?
Yes clexane or any of those heparin injections can be pretty horrible. I've given many of them over the years. I know I'll probably be on them after delivery (fingers crossed get that far) I'm a midwife by profession so know lots about pregnancy but completely ignorant about infertility treatments.
We've not really got a clinic back here, however my hospital where I work will help all they can and see me as a private patient.
Take care and hope this is the start of your pregnancy story.
Thank you for your good wishes. My pregnancy test is on Friday 21 November my husband and I are taking the day off from work. That must be tough for you sometimes being a midwife. That's good the hospital are going to support you.
