hey

me and my partner have been trying to concive for over a year now. we dont use protection and i have never got pregnant. when i was younger i didnt have regular periods it would come about once every six months. i went to the GP and the hospital and was diagnosed with PCOS but had a few more scans and was told on and off that i had it. :/

so my doctor has given me provera. a drug to start my periods. then on day 2 of my period i have to take 50MG of cloumid for 5 days. My first month of cloumid i was excited thinking its going to work as i had side effects as most do. but on day 21 i had a blood test that said i hadnt ovulated which kindo made me upset. im now on my second month and feel like its never going to happen. Im constantly checking on website to see if someone has the same exact problem as me and has success.

so thats my story and i really would like to see if anyone has the same problem and what they were given.

thanks jen !!

Hi Jennifer,

Other than sex, what are you using or doing to help you conceive?

Hi jennifer8310,im kind of in the same boat as you.ive always had irregular periods, sometimes a few months,a few times ive gone a year without one.i was originally diagnosed with pcos at 19,then told I had endometriosis, then when we d been trying for about two years(when I was 28)I was told I had pcos again.i was put on clomid 50mg but when I was being scanned my follicles hadnt grown enough at that point.i mustve eventually ovulated because I would have a period at around 6 wks.i was so disheartened I gave up after 3 months then 3 months later I got pregnant and now I have a beautiful 4 year old son.we started trying again in 2012 and after 3 months I got pregnant(total fluke) but we lost it at 7 wks.ive read since if your hormones are out of kilter your body might not be able to sustain the pregnancy.after trying since april 2013 and having no joy I was put on metformin in feb and started on clomid 100mg.i had a scan on day 18 and didnt get many answers but had 3 positive ovulation tests 5 days later.sorry for all the life history but the bottom line is dont give up hope, you may ovulate late, they may increase your dose and theres so many other options.take care and good luck and im here if you want to chat.xx

Hi Jen

Sounds like a similar scenario to mine! I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19, I chose never to go on the pill to regulate my periods at that point as I was quite happy to go months at a time without one. We have been trying to conceive now for coming up to three years and its been in the last year and a half we have started investigations. All fine apart from I don’t seem to be ovulating.

This is my third cycle of clomid (day 21 bloods to be taken tomorrow) – first round 50mg for five days from day 2, no ovulation. Second round 100mg for five days from day 2, no ovulation. So fingers x maybe this cycle I might have ovulated. Trying not to be a pessimist but I felt fine this time after taking the clomid no side affects at all where as the other two times I have been quite emotional and had some stomach twinges…. Im trying to convince myself that its because we have been so busy I haven’t had time to think about it… anyway we shall see.

Other than clomid I have been taking Pregnacare conception, I feel a lot better for taking this bags more energy and just general feel healthier. And trying to lose a few pounds and go to the gym/walk/swim abit more (my weight hasn’t been an issue but I would like to lose a few pounds anyway).

The most frustrating thing for me is the irregular periods tends to draw things out a lot more and constantly seem to be waiting on the next period and not knowing when it will come! I am back at the consultant in three weeks so hopefully will get some direction of what happens next if the clomid doesn’t seem to be working.

Good luck.

xx
