I know this issue is actually not so bad given everything going on but it’s still driving me mad! Was referred 13 Feb to IVF clinic (had to see a private doc for that and pay as wasnt coping with diagnosis of blocked tubes and known endo etc and waiting for another lap).
Chased IVF clinic for weeks - then they wanted to send me for tests so I had to take photos of ALL the test results i had the month prior at the same Trust and email them photos of them! Once they believed me they then progressed my case but then covid hit. So i felt like we had wasted 6-8 weeks of time (including 2 horrific periods) but i know that had i been seen ontime , it wouldn’t have made any difference due to covid but still makes me annoyed! Anyway i contacted the lead surgeon there and he kindly arranged to phone me. The first thing he said was “Im very sorry but nobody has checked your postcode and we (Manchester) wouldn’t be the ones doing your IVF!!!!” so he has now referred me to the correct clinic in Liverpool. I just feel so frustrated. It’s a constant battle. Rant over!

Look at it this way they could have had you waiting longer in the wrong department if you hadent instigated it .now you are on the right path.sorry you feel frustrated I think during all this Covid 19 all the professionals are really frustrated and stressed too I’ve been trying to get a referral for my endo for 8 weeks before Covid now Covid has hit been told they won’t even put it through I think they are just overwhelmed at the minute even before Covid there’s been an increase in demand
yes so true thank you. Other patients wouldn’t have sorted it themselves though and would have been told in months that they’re at the wrong clinic. And they would have agreed to have more tests done and just do as they’re told as i very nearly did but then decided to refuse! It just makes an already emotional rollercoaster even worse. He did mention in his letter today the emotional impact which i appreciated. Every day feels like a year when you’re a fertility patient. I am very understanding of the covid situation and that doesn’t upset me at all- i think they should check postcodes the minute a referral comes in!
Feel free to rant! So sorry to hear this - you have suffered so much already with the pain of endo. You sound v proactive and engaged with the whole process, though, and that will shorten the time it takes you on this “journey”!
It might help you to feel a small bit better to write a letter to your new clinic pointing out what happened to you with this error and saying something like”I appreciate how over-stretched you will be in terms of resources when the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted but I would be extremely grateful if my case could be prioritised”(or words to that effect!) I work in the health service and although of course we see people in their order on the waiting list, we do try to take people’s anxiety/ mental health needs into account when there’s a choice of a few cases referred at exactly the same time.
Best of luck with it. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Our fertility doctor thinks that things could be back up and running in the clinics within 6 weeks. Hopefully you won’t have too long to wait now. xx
Ah, I know! That must be so hard. I don’t know what age you are, but just read your earlier posts - you’ve had such a long & painful journey but the end is in sight now. Something a friend of mine (who had two children through IVF) said to me sometimes helps me get through this: “You need to remember that as long as you are willing to consider all options you will have your baby”.
The waiting is the hardest part. We found out on Thurs that we now need to switch to donor egg as well as sperm. What’s getting us through the current restrictions is the mindset that we need to start prepping our house/ lives for the baby we will meet someday 🤞🏼🤞🏼 We are lucky to be able to afford the these options, I know.
