pregnancy vitamins??

hi everyone,

currently 8w2d pregnant and really struggling with sickness 😣 I was taking the Pregnacare Max pregnancy vitamins as soon as we got our BFP but it’s 3 tablets! I also take antidepressants so it all equals a lot of tablets! I was really struggling to keep them down so I’ve switched to just folic acid and vitamin D to try and keep them down but now I’m worried I’m not getting enough vitamins?

I have my first midwife app next week so will get some advice but just wondered if anyone else had the same issues?

Thanks

I used the pregnacare original and they were one a day.

Thank you I’m going to give them a try. I’m being sick that much I’m not sure how much of them I’m even absorbing!

Sorry you're having such a tough time with the sickness. I hope it clears up for you soon x

It might be the amount of iron in them making you sick. The midwife will only insist on vit d and folic acid but there’s no harm in multi vitamins. I took naturally occurring folic acid which is not in pregnacare. I used fertility bud which had a lot less unnecessary vitamins in and naturally occurring folic acid

I am taking Zita West Pregnancy vitamins - not sure if these are worth trying to see if any better for nausea x

Thank you I’m going to give the pregnacare originals a try as it’s just 1 a day so hopefully will be able to keep it down 😩

You poor thing - might be a bit of trial and error to find one that works for you. Xxx

I’m so sorry you’re still feeling so sick! I’m sure you’re sick of people giving you ideas of things to try but have you tried almonds? They were like a godsend for me! Xx

Thank you! I’m happy to try anything at this point but unfortunately I’m allergic! 😫 I’m counting down the days until the first trimester is over and I’ll hopefully feel better!

Hi I suffered terribly with sickness in my first pregnancy and switched to just folic acid and vitamin d and the midwife told me this was fine. I have a healthy 2 year old so all was ok. I am currently pregnant again and suffered more with constant nausea but less actual sickness, I tried to just take the multi vitamins when I could stomach it and just the folic acid and vit d on other days and the pregnacare actually seemed to improve my nausea a little so there might be something in there that helps.

Just do what you can but the folic acid is the most important right now.

Hope you feel better soon x

That’s really reassuring! Thank you, I’ve been taking folic acid and vit d every day it’s just the multivitamins I can’t seem to stomach! X

Buy some travel sickness bands, they were recommended to me and since I started wearing them on my wrists a week ago my morning sickness has decreased, I was being sick around 6 times a day now only once a day. I am currently 9+2. Hope you feel better soon x

Thank you! I do have some that I’ve been wearing but not sure how much they’re helping as I’m still sick with them on 😣 xx

If you are being sick all the time you might want to speak to your GP as you could have Hyperemesis gravidarum. My sister had it on both pregnancies and was prescribed anti sickness tablets they didn't completely stop her being sick but drastically reduced the amount of times she was sick x

I was struggling to keep them down so I switched to pregnacare gummies. They tasted alright and just ate them with my main meal. Made such a difference!

I’ve only taken folic acid & Vit d throughout my pregnancy (currently 25 weeks) as I can’t take iron which is included in all the multivitamins like pregnacare. Doctors & midwives have all said this is absolutely fine as these are the important ones.

You poor thing! It does sound horrendous. For what it's worth - pregnacare always made me feel gross. I always felt nauseous after taking them so switched to something else...

I'm currently using Wild Nutrition's food-grown pregnancy supplement. It's pricey but I've felt really good on them. It sounds like your sickness is something a bit different but definitely just take the vitamins you can stomach - and it sounds like you're getting the good important ones in!

Thank you! I’ll give them a go, they’ve been recommended by a few people so worth a try! ❤️

Hey my lovely so sorry about the sickness 😫Have you tried taking them right before you think you will fall asleep.

Also if the sickness is bad enough please ask for anti sickness meds! I tried 4 different ones because of HG. It’s the only thing that got me through to 20wks after that I stayed on them but I wasn’t as bad.

Feel free to PM me if I can help xx

Don’t stress about all the vitamins 💗

Thank you lovely! I do take them on a night before I go to sleep but sometimes I’m waking up through the night being sick 😣

I’ve been given an anti sickness med but they don’t work and I’m still being sick even after I take them. I’m trying to ride it out but I’m just so miserable with it and not feeling myself at all.

Thank you again for your lovely reply ❤️❤️

There is an anti sickness that you put under your lip to dissolve if you cant keep your tablet down. Only ones that worked for me was cyclazine and domperidone xx

I was lay up for 16wks couldn’t move my head without vomiting it was the happiest and worse time of my life 🥴

I might ask to try a different one, they were quite reluctant to even give me any at all and kept telling me to keep trying different things even though I’d tried everything suggested! Thankfully I’m not as bad as I was so I’m praying it’s slowly fading! I’ve had a few days of feeling more myself so I’m hoping for more of those! ❤️

Hi ...i really feel for you! My sickness was so awful at the beginning I'd be sick as soon as i put my vitamins in my mouth...no chance of swallowing! 2 things i'd suggest - like others on here pregnacare made me feel really nauseous before morning sickness kicked in anyway so i'd switched to Wild Nutrition which was better. But when i was too sick for tablets I changed to a pregnancy vitamin spray - just spray it in your mouth. Was called Better You. I felt like this meant i'd absorbed it even if i was sick (not sure it's accurate but was reassuring to me).

Oh and my sickness started to lift at 18 weeks - i'd never felt so excited!!! x

Thank you! I didn’t know there was a spray! I’ll have to look into it, I’ve had a few days of feeling a bit better so I’m hoping it’s slowly starting to ease off 🤞🏻
