Hi everyone. Just thought ï would let u all know about my recent surgery. I had my sub Total hysterectomy on monday and it was definitely not a day surgery thing. I am due to go home 2day. It may be laparascopic procedure but it was agony. Cant wait to get home and rest up. I am a little emotional but doing ok. The doc said all went well. Fingers crossed to no return of endo and pain free life. Thanks for all the well wishes and support xxxx

Thanks for the update SJ. Am very glad to hear all went well and that the hospital didn't try to discharge you the same day. Did anyone speak to you about that or do you think it was a mistake on your admission letter? I think the earliest any lady I know has been discharged after a hysterectomy was the following day.

Hope you can rest and recover at home soon. Remember to take things easy :)

Take care, xx

Hi there. Yep it was correct. I had surgery on the day care unit but was then transfered to the ward. My surgeon didn't want me to go home til I was mobile. However, the ward doctors were not as pleasant. They needed the bed so wanted me out. Thankfully my nurses were on my side and I was allowed to stay. Am recovering well. Thank you x

Hi SJ, I hope the hysterectomy works for you and you return to a pain-free life. Hopefully once you are home you will start to recover and the pain will die down, there is nothing like your own bed. I will keep my fingers crossed for you x

Keep us updated of your progress, I'm sure your recovery will go smoothly. I've not long had the Mirena coil put in and if it doesn't work, then it looks like a hysterectomy is my only option. I'm not surprised you're glad to be home, wishing you a speedy recovery x

How are u feeling about it. I'm only 29 so was shocked when it was offered. But it needed to be done. I'm trying so hard to chill out as I'm going on holiday in August. The silly medical secratary told me I'd be over the op in a week. I'm pretty sure that is not gonna happen. Keep us posted with your progress too xxx

Maybe the hospital could word the letter slightly better for future patients to save them unnecessary worry? It is certainly a big ask expecting a patient to go home on the day of their hysterectomy. I remember I had my op at 9am and after returning the ward in the early afternoon was left to recover in my bed on the ward. I certainly wasnt asked to move and couldnt have considered getting dressed and going home!!

Sorry you found the ward doctors less amenable but glad to read you're home safe and relaxing in your own surroundings.

Take care, x

Hiya sjdonkey, how are you doing now after your op? I was told today that after all the years of trying different things to help me with no long term result it looks like I'll need to seriously consider a hysterectomy. I am desperate to live a normal life and be pain free. I am 39 and have had 3 lovely children, we not interested in anymore. But what I do want is to feel ok and not in pain or so very tired all the time day in and day out. Any info would be much appreciated please. x

Hi, sorry its taken so long to reply. Only just seen this. Having the hysterectomy was the best thing I have ever done. I don't bleed at all and have gone back down to a size 12 and don't look pregnant. I get very slight ovulation pain each month but a simple paracetamol takes it away. I am now virtually pain free. In fact I had a smear done this morning which used be horrific. But today it was easy with no pain. It only took 5 mins instead of the normal 30 mins. It was emotional afterwards but I now feel great. Hope that helps. Anything else just gimme a shout xx

Hi sjdonkey, thank you for replying to my message. Below I'll add my post on here just to give you an idea of my situation.

Hiya all. Going to try cut a long story short and ask please if anyone has had the same experience or any advice for me please. I had horrendous bleeding for years since a teenager (I am 37 now) until 3 years ago when I had an Endometrial Ablation (novasure procedure) prior to this they tried giving me all sorts of pill, coil, implant etc to help with the bleeding and pain. None of these helped so ended up giving me EA and not too long after this, did they do a laprascopy to check if I had endometriosis. Which to me seemed back to front but anyways, it came back clear. I started spotting end of last year, which I don't have a problem with seen as I haven't had any periods since EA. But then start of the year my pain started up again. It's just gotten worse. It seems to happen every 2 weeks or so where I have pain under my belly button, left side lower abdomen, also to the right, horrendous back ache, breasts sore, the mood swings well not good at all, I'm tired all the time but also don't sleep well, I wee alot more at these times, I go to the toilet at least 5 times a day with loose stools but not exactly as loose as diarrhea, I'm also bloated and extremely windy and yuk yuk yuk. (apologise for the crude truth) I'm on antidepressants since December which I find has helped me not be as anxious as I was but still. I was also diagnosed with IBS many years ago and keep been told all these symptoms is just IBS. Now after wanting to have this suffering end and to start feeling human again I'm desperate for answers. Or is this all in my head. Also my iron level is usually on the low side. Hoping I've added all I can to help someone give me some light to my situation please please please please.

Following this I saw the gynae last Wednesday and he wants me to have another lap and hysterscopy to see what exactly is going on but he thinks it's endo. Then he said he suggests I have zoladex(or whatever it's called) for a bit and if it works then I can be refferred for a hysterectomy. I had made a diary up for him of pain etc and my history to help my situation. As my hubby is in the army and we are living in Gibraltar right now so I get to see a gynae that comes out here once every 6 months and any procedures done I have to fly back to the UK for, yes I know it's madness. But what else do I do hey. Anyways, I did say to him that I suspect it's adenomyosis. I am secretely hoping it is because then if I have the hyst it will keep me pain free and if it's endo I have more of a chance of it coming back.

So sorry for the long story but any advice or info you have would be so appreciated please.

Angie xx
