hi everyone,
Have any of you benefited from requesting hospital notes after your laparoscopy?
I’m still in pain post op and a little in the dark about what was checked/done. Will i get more info from the records?

hi there I just did my laparoscopically 4 days ago and will. Have a chat with my specialist on Monday I recommend get as much info as you can so in the future it would be good as reference of what u have done and if u need to do another one in the future could be a reference of your prior status
I always request my op notes because discharge notes are so vague. You can put in a Subject Access Request with your hospital and request specific records
I was given mine on discharge as well as the usual brief discharge letter. You should definitely ask for them. It annoys me that it's not standard practice especially after such invasive procedures. You need to know what was done... it's impossible to remember what they've said after you've woken up and perhaps more importantly, you will likely need them in future so other doctors or consultants can understand your case. I always take the notes to appointments because they can rarely ever find them on the system, especially if you end up going to a different hospital.
