Hey everyone I'm currently in hospital just now, has anyone else ever had a really bad reaction to the anesthetic? The operation was nearly 5 hours and I'm still feeling extremely sick and dizzy. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Thank you💜

Hospital anesthetic
Hi, is this your first anaesthetic?
I react that way also, initial nausea and then a lot of dizziness/head between the legs to try and not faint sort of thing.
It does affect people differently but I think those are fairly normal after effects for some.
Hope surgery went well, wishing you a speedy recovery! 🤍
hello I have had 3 surgeries & every one I was vomiting all night because of anaesthetic 🤮even after saying to them I get very sick and I got anti sickness medication, my body just can’t tolerate it x
Awww no way that's awful😭 defo must be something in it that the body doesn't agree with, I couldn't stop being sick earlier on I'm needing to stay overnight unfortunately can't walk myself without feeling dizzy/sick🙃 x
Yes I was vomitting for the first day and I had extreme dizziness for several days. It honestly took me almost 2 weeks to get rid of the dizziness completely! Just take it slow, take the time to recover. I‘m having my second lap soon and was advised I‘ll probably react the same again. Some people just take longer to fully come round.
Thank you so much for sharing I appreciate it! Feel much more reasurred knowing it's not just me! Felt like the room was turning upside down😅😅
hi. Yes. The first one caused bad sickness and dizziness. Then there was severe breathing problems so I had to stay in recovery for much longer. The other caused delayed sickness. Each time they tweaked the meds to reduce sickness after. The other 2 were shorter and caused dizziness and nausea. For me the anaesthesia was worse than the surgery. It all passed in its own time.
Thank you so much!! Yeah the vomiting/dizziness was horrendous, I wasn't even feeling pain in my stomach after surgery because the sickness was just taking over😅 everyone's body must just react diff to it! That's good they tried to make it a bit more bareable for you by tweaking the meds!
Hi Santorini,
Sorry to hear you’re feeling this way. I also react badly to anaesthetic. I feel very tired and breathless after, and it takes quite a while to get out of my system. I think people react differently but if you’re concerned then speak to you nurse or GP. X
hun I had a three hour operation and was in recovery for around three and a half to four hours I felt so sick and dizzy and weak even having an operation two hours less than yours . I was violently sick and felt it was the oramorph I was given as don’t tolerate opiates very well . I came out of hospital though after one night stay as it was better to be in a quiet place rather than noisy xx take care
Oh no that sounds horrendous!! Being sick and that dizzy feeling is awful I don't think I've ever been so unwell in my life! Yeah it's defo best getting home, I just got home not long ago feel better already being in my own space! Thank you❤️xx
xxx am happy to help xxx 😘
I ended up staying in overnight due to nausea, dizziness and almost fainting a couple times 😂 I warned them in advance as my mum reacts the same, but they were sure I’d be home same day 🤷♀️ definitely more common than you think ❤️ wish you speedy recovery!
