pain relief

hi, I’ve just been diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis after an exploratory laparoscopy. Surgeon managed to drain most of the cysts and free up most of the adhesions but was unable to get it all from my bowel as it was too risky. My main concern atm is pain relief. I’m unable to take any NSAID’s as I only have one kidney has anyone found any other forms of pain relief that help.

Thankyou 😊😊

I can’t take NSAIDs either. You could take opiate type medication such as codeine, tramadol or ones for neve pain such as gabapentin, pregabalin,. There are a number of anti-depressants like amitryptyline that are also effective for nerve pain. Your GP can prescribe these, but you could also ask about referral to a pain clinic. If you are under a specialist endo centre they will likely have a pain specialist attached.

It is a question of finding a combination that is effective with the least side-effects. It is also worth asking for an emergency option for when pain is particularly bad.

Hope this helps xx
