Outcome from Laparoscopy

Hey I need some help as I’m trying to workout what this all means from having my first Laparoscopy. Long story short I had my surgery on Thursday which did confirm I had Endometriosis which is many ways was a relief as my MRI and Ultrasound showed nothing.

This is where I get a bit confused so I’ve been getting the pain on my right lower abdomen but it was mostly found on my left and they removed it. They did find endosalpingiosis around the right fallopian tube. Which she left untouched as it could affect the tubes if I fell pregnant and could lead to an ectopic pregnancy. So wondering is this why I’ve been getting all the pain on the right hand side . I’m not sure what endosalpingiosis is or what it and entails and when I tired to look it up, it just confused me more.

My final question is those who have been Endo Warriors longer than me, is having another Laparoscopy in the future something that happens even though they removed the endometriosis, does it come back after x amount of time? I was going to ask my gynaecologist after the operation but I was struggling to process everything as I was feeling quite overwhelmed with it all.,

Thank you in advance.

I had excision of endometriosis & full pelvic clearance recently. Even though my pain was largely on my right (just as you have described yours), I had a larger endometrioma on my left. I did however have endometriosis all over & biopsies showed chronic inflammation on my right, so maybe the pain isn't always correlated with where the more serious issues are. We already know that pain levels with endometriosis do not necessarily map to severity of the disease, so possibly just another endo mystery? Not sure if this is helpful, but just a thought.

I have read that reoccurance rates after expert excision surgery is around 10%, so yes it can come back. Whether a surgeon will recommend further surgery would very much depend on so many factors at the time-pain/feasibility of alternative treatment/fertility concerns/age/general health & so on

Thank you, I am still getting to get my head round everything as it is all relativity new to me. Which I know sounds really silly as I had only noticed I was getting pains like this for a a year and half since I came off the pill. Maybe it will be another endo mystery indeed why my body decides to hate me.

Thank you, I know she said she’s keen for me to try a new mini pill that works for endo but I didn’t get along with the mini pill last time. But who knows I might try it and see what happens. I don’t know exactly what to do next and I think that’s the part I’m struggling with most and on now to manage it.

Hope you enjoyed the fresh air today. You will have so many questions by the time your consultation comes up, so write down all of them and ask, as if you don't your head will continue spinning!

HiI have mostly left side pelvic pain I do have right sided pain but not as severe or as often - most of my endo lesions were found on my right side. Did you have ablation or excision surgery? Ablation surgery has a higher chance of returning as it only burns the top whereas excision is getting the root. Iv only had ablation as I had alot of adhesions they wanted to separate so not enough time to excision. Hope ur recovery is going well x

I had excision surgery she said she removed parts, but left the ones on my right fallopian tube. Guessing they could come back at some point and I’ll ask her when I see on the 19th December.

My recovery is going okay thank you, I am six days in feeling a little brighter, hoping the bloat has gone down and not need the pain killers today. Hoping to get out this afternoon as need some fresh air and change of scenery from home. As I am struggling not being able to get out and do yoga which is my me time and not let my anxiety creep in too much. Hoping in a few more weeks I’ll get back to a gentle yin before even trying my usual classes.x

I'm glad your recovery is going well, bit of fresh air can make wonders sometimes. Iv had 2 lots of surgery within 1year and no where near well enough to exercise or return to work so iv had to leave. Most days I can't get out but a little steady walk around my block on good days is so refreshing. Wishing you all the best for the future x

Thank you, I’m hoping I fare well on my little walk but it’s anyone guess. I’ve been sitting outside for a little bit to get some fresh air on my face feels nice to be out here.

I hope you have more good days than the bad days. Sending positive vibes your way xx

when I had my first lot of endometriosis removed I was given what they call pro strap injection which is one injection that lasts for three months which was good then I was put in to two other tablets which now I’ve had to stop taking due to bad side effects and waiting for the hospital to get back to me. When I went to see the doctors up the hospital they said that I would have two rounds of them removing the endometriosis and that they would only take everything as a very last resort these days.if your still in pain go back to your GP and complain about the pain or call the gynecologist department at your hospital and speak to them about it. Hope this helps. Good luck

Same with me I've have always had lower right pain and when I had surgery over a year ago they said I only had endo on the left side. I was told you can get reffered pain so where the pain is doesn't necessarily mean thats where the endo is
