DO NOT have a hysterectomy. Ur so young as well I’m surprised they’re even doing it. I had a full hysterectomy anabout 4 years ago other reasons but I also suffer from endo. I am still crippled with pain from it. I had everything removed drs keep telling me I should have no endo cos I have no hormones. I’m waiting now for another laporoscopy. It’s the only way of getting rid. As for the injections I had them on a couple of occasions and there were no symptoms at all.

I asked for a hysterectomy myself as I am fed up of been in pain so bad every day they said I can keep my ovaries as I’m so young and need natural hormones.. I am in 2 minds to be honest I may call them and say to remove the endo only

Hi I have recently started prostap. I also have a HRT gel and tablet to try prevent symptoms. I have noticed hot flushes on occasion and my period was noticeably lighter but that is it. I know it can take 1 to 2 months to properly kick in. I am 32. I was also very nervous about going on it. I think you just have to look at whether it will help you and you can always come off it if you feel it is not for you. I did a lot of research and felt it would be a benefit for me to try with my current pain and to slow down the endo growth. Speak to your doctor or consultant about your concerns and take it from there x

Yes I did speak to them Faylen34 and thanks for ur reply 😀

So have they said anything to u about surgery ? Or is that not on the ball game yet …

I have mirina in so I won’t need the tablets they said just the gel will be fine for me…

I have been researching slot and I am so nervous but if it helps with pain why not !

I rather have hot flushes than pain any day…

When was you diagnosed and how? Thanks once again x

That is good - I think its worth a shot as it may help and if not you know youve tried it and can come off. Yes I am waiting for surgery with endo specialist, colorectal and urologist as my bowel and bladder are affected unfortunately and stuck. I was diagnosed a few months ago via MRI - I have bilateral endometriomas and a lot of organs are squished over / visible endo areas on the scan. Quite lucky really that ive been able to gain a diagnosis from this as I know so many don't until surgery.

How about you? X

Aww hun yes I’m the same i started looking for answers last year in august and I am diagnosed via vaginal ultrasound as they did a endometriosis ultrasound vaginally.. the specialist did it himself and it’s. Level 2 scan so not a usual ultrasound …

Mine showed adenomyosis.. deep endometriosis and adhesions also my ovaries are stick to my uterus and they suspect it sin my bowels as I bleed from the back passage when I’m on my periods ….. so now yesterday I had my app and I asked for a hysterectomy but want to keep my ovaries as for adenomyosis that is the only cure… I am in 2 minds for the hysterectomy I may just have a endo removal and see how I get on and if I’m the same in a few years then have hysterectomy…. They did a theatre consent form but when I see him again I should have decided by then and I would have done enough research…

It’s horrible isn’t it … I hate my life sometimes but then I think I’m not the only one … currently where I am in Birmingham it’s a 16 mi Yh wait for surgery ? How long is ur wait x

hi there

I don’t know if prostap is the same as what I had but I think it might be - I was on decapeptyl injections, which puts you into a temp menopause to try shrink fibroids or control endo and bleeding etc… I found them fine. I did get pain for the first two weeks but that’s because of the surge of hormones it gives but after it was fine. Most women get hot flushes but I didn’t get them, I had a large fibroid and they discovered after my hysterectomy that I had adenomyosis. So both were contributing the the horrendous bleeding. I have to say I don’t regret my hysterectomy. I got my life back. I am bit older I was 39 when I had mine. So two years ago for me. The injections didn’t control my bleeding to be honest but everyone is different. And I think that was because of my fibroids, plus the adenomyosis that they didn’t know I had. You will be ok with whatever decision you make. I don’t know if you have children or want more - that was the deciding part for me, I don’t have any but my life was so impacted with constant heavy and unpredictable bleeding which I eventually needed blood transfusions for and I had had enough. I have no regrets. What I will say is many people will experience meds differently - you just have to try and yes sometimes just tolerate the side effects as nothing is perfect. But you will be ok. You have no doubt put up with so much already that you will get through this as well. Take care and good luck with everything x

aw sorry to hear that. One thing I did have was I was a bit dizzy but I can’t say for sure if it was the injections that caused that but no I had no issues with them. I think if you get overly anxious about it then if you feel anything like a slight headache and you will panic lol so try not to worry about them too much. What they said is it can ‘flare’ your usual symptom’s at the start, so mine were pain and bleeding but after two weeks this lessened, and it wasn’t constant, just intense when it happened. My bleeding didn’t stop but the pain did. I understand how you feel. I think if all else fails and you decide it’s the hysterectomy you want then between you and your doctor you will know what’s best for your quality of life. They will tell you that even with the ovaries preserved you may hit menopause a little earlier than Normal which in the uk the average age is 50. I have some symptoms but again I am older than you, and I have a little vaginal dryness, sorry for too much info lol! X
