The issue could be similar to what happened to me on provera. The coil provides progestin not progesterone and for some women (particularly those with endometriosis) it can't help them balance their hormones (namely keep estrogen in check) because it's synthetic progesterone - progestin NOT natural progesterone like utrogestan. So if you can't balance the estrogen you become "estrogen dominant"and then you bleed more and more. This happened to me. My GP put me on progestin and the bleeding stopped then after 3 weeks it went mental. Do some research about being estrogen dominant. There's a lot out there on it and it is particularly pertinent if you suffer from endo. You'd probably be better off on natural progesterone only xxxx

hunny when did they put it on if it’s less than six months it has to take time to settle for me I was bleeding for the first six months and on the booklet he should have said that it can take anything up to six months to sort it’s self out . This is because it’s a synthetic hormone some times it helps people other times it doesn’t . For me it took away the heavy bleeding and clots but after a few years o think the coil had run out and cause me to bleed for ten days with heavy clots that happened last Jan and then the summer before after an internal I bleed large clots for a few days all my advise to you would be if it hasn’t helped flow or your worried your heavily bleeding then it may not suit you or could have moved out of place my first coil moved and nearly expelled out of my body and as it had moved hence the bleeding and pain because it had moved so much. My advise is to speak to dr or consultant and make sure they book a nurses appointment to check it is still in the right position and place hope this helps ease your mind a little . It may just still be early. Days hun . You should have had an appointment reminder for the removal of the coil and then there should have also been a little dairy that you fill out to see when you bleed how long for and flo etc . Xxx take good care . Remember though everyone s body is different and some of these hormones may work for one person and not an other as it’s all about individuality

Hun if effecting you mental health hunni it may not be suiting you so for your mental health in the perspective of that you may well have to have it removed. Same thing happened to me with the depo and also the rod and all the other contraceptive pills . You have to do what’s right for your health. It’s really hard to balance though whether it’s both things you need to keep healthy body and mind or just body or just mind sometimes when it’s both it’s a lot harder to see whether helping or not. Take care hunni I would def speak to your consultants secretary and also gp to guide on the next steps. It’s very important to take care of both mental and physical health . But I understand it’s tricky xx

Hi,

I had the mirena coil fitted in March when I had my op. Been bleeding since pretty much. Periods are lasting longer (11-12 days), they're not as heavy and the pain is better. Then I'm bleeding on/off throughout the rest of the month. Again not heavily but it is present. Varies in colour and consistency/texture. I was also told it can take many months for things to settle down so I'm going to give it 6 months then review things x

I’m exactly the same had mine feb 22nd… it’s not heavy and pain is less but I’m constantly bleeding sometimes even out my bottom

I Acc feel more depressed with this blood I cannot take it any longer my periods started 10th may and still going 16 days on … and yes mine varies in colour and I bleed on n off through out other days to

Do u get tummy aches and back aches with this to??

I'm finding that I get an increase in vaginal bleeding with a bowel movement but definitely not bleeding from my bottom. I went to the GP and they got me to do a FIT test (checks for blood in the poo) which came back clear.

I still have the feeling of pressure in my pelvis which can cause pain in lower back and hips. I'm also taking iron supplements at the moment which I think is causing some tummy pains.

It's really hard to know what to do for the best sometimes isn't it. But if your feeling like your really not getting on well with it then probably best to speak with your gynae/GP.

At the moment it's really making me have no desire to be intimate with my partner too which is difficult for him too. But i just want to try and stick it out a bit longer to see if things improve in 6 months time x
