Adenmyosis and Constipation

I found out recently that adenmyosis can cause bad bouts of constipation, which explains a lot for me. However all the dr’s do is plug me with laxitives and tell me to eat prunes (which I have explained doesn’t help) because (and I apologise if this is TMI) my stools aren’t hard, it’s not a fibre intake problem.

Does anyone else have this and have you been prescribed or do you do anything to manage it? I’m probably going to end up going down the self treatment route because I am fed up for being told to eat some prunes and stop being anxious.

Yeah I get constipated but like you they're not hard.. it as if I have to push through a blockage then it comes out. 🤦 I've found probiotics help a bit but a really strong coffee on a morning helps. My bowel is attached with adhesions very low down near sigmoid junction so it's like I'm trying to get it round that (also TMI) .

Hi

I’ve had constipation for years because of this disease, even after hysterectomy and other operations, bowel was tethered as well. The only thing I’ve found that works is medication unfortunately. Gastro tried to blame it on opiates, but stopped taking those for a while and still had it.

I hope you find something more natural to work.

I was recently diagnosed with 'mild' adeno and really there is no such thing in other doctors opinions. No amount of surgery or dietary changes made me better apart from ratatouille which gave 24 hours relief. I have recently started having acupuncture, taking Messima mushrooms and running 3 / 4 days a week - honestly, I have no constipation at all now. It honestly feels like a miracle - I'm fairly convinced it is the running, so if you can take a gentle jog a few times a week I believe this has worked wonders for me after YEARS of constipation. No supplements or medical interventions needed.

Yep.

I found regular exercise helps. It doesn't have to be running though it can be walking, cycling and doing some sort of strength/resistance work e.g. pilates. Obviously this takes more time than a run but some people can't run particularly when on their period.

If you dont want to go down the medical route then be prepared for alot of trial and errors. There are alot of things worth considering like:Diet

Exercise

Supplements

Alternative health options like acupuncture etc

Surgery

It all depends on what and where the Endo is? Do you have other illnesses etc?

Hello, I can fully relate to this problem. I’ve just started using CBD oil which is helping. I also started using vitamins recommended on here- omega 369, magnesium, zinc, calcium and vitamins D. I’ve mostly given up gluten. Hope you find something helpful xx
