I think I may have Endometriosis and have been suffering with bad period pain here and there over the years, heavy clot ridden periods, aching back, legs, boobs.
This weekend things notched up and I found myself going to A& E after the pain became to much causing me to be unable to sleep as I could not get comfortable due to the intensity of the pain. I have lost about half a stone in a week as I stopped being able to eat for a time and lost my appetite. Is this common?
Gingerly I am trying to eat more. . . .
Does anyone have any recommendations of foods, recipes, to eat when you are trying to start eating again?
Does anyone have any recommendations of dieticians to help?
Has anyone tried being tested for allergies or done an elimination diet to see if anything triggers IBS (which I have also diagnosed with but think this may be caused by the endometriosis)?

When I have days when I can't eat (I'm undiagnosed so far but fairly far into the process now) I have meal replacement shakes to make sure I'm still having something. Or smoothies liquid soup is also good. It's best to just have small amounts often so you don't feel sick, I tend to get queasy if I force myself to eat a full meal when my guts are playing up.
Same- I have meal replacement shakes in so that I know I am getting some nutrients . Fruit and veg seem to aggravate things for me particularly orange and tomato so I just stick with the milkshakes
Can I ask what brand you're buying? I've been getting Fuel and Wheetabix ones but I only like one flavour lol so it is getting a bit boring! Any good flavours/brands you can recommend?
Get checked for IC interstitial cystitis as well. The pain flare after acidic foods (orange and tomato) is a big sign. Try to take some baking soda in water if you eat acidic foods and see if that helps and also look up the IC diet. IC is very common in endo patients.
Hi Kimmeka,I believe in listening to your body, it should tell you what to eat, especially when you are not feeling great, so if you want to eat ice cream, then do so, the same if you want Salty foods, be kind to yourself, I found the Be You strips from Amazon really helpful. Also maybe try some CBD, I hope this helps. Sending you light and love
Easy to digest foods like soups and smoothies can be good as well as foods that are well cooked and broken down such as stews. Will message you a link that might help too.
Hi Kimmeka, you are describing the symptoms I had and I would urge you to see your GP and ask for a referral to a gynaecologist, if you don’t have one already. Your GP should be able to do a pelvic exam and also request an pelvic ultrasound to take a look at what might be causing your symptoms. I had extreme pain, very heavy and prolonged bleeds with clots and this caused me to have severe anaemia and require blood transfusions. They found multiple fibroids on my ultrasound but it wasn’t until I had a gynaecologist appt that they did an MRI and a CT scan. These picked up a concerning pelvic mass in my uterus and also concerns about nodules in my lungs, they suspect cancer and I will be having a full hysterectomy in a couple of weeks time. They can’t confirm anything until after surgery when they biopsy and do pathology on the tissue so I have to wait to find out.I don’t want to scare you, but these symptoms are not normal and you need to get checked out by your GP and a gynaecologist to find out what is causing it. There are lots of reasons why this may be happening, but you need to get checked out properly x
Thank you, I have a pre-op assessment next week, so things are moving forward. It’s suspected uterine leiomyosarcoma with metastatic pulmonary nodules, so it’s a lot to get my head around atm. I hope you get a referral quickly too, take care x
Hi! So sorry to hear that sounds awful.I have changed my diet a lot actually and it has really helped. This is what ive found so far: gluten give me endo belly like straight after i eat it and then leaves me constipated for a bit after with a lot of pain. Any cheese or dairy also give me trouble, i never used to be dairy intolerant but now it gives me diarea almost instantly.
I also stay away from red meat and alcohol, these give me a flair up that usually lasts about 3 days.
After not being able to eat for a while my gp told me to start with soft foods, easy on the stomach. Mainly banana (or yoghurt if you are not sensitive to it ) for breakfast/lunch and i would have soup or maybe sweet potato from the oven for dinner.
Hope that helps, i am also not taking any cafeine but i havent been able to have that foe years cause of a heart condition so i couldnt test the immediate effect.
