Hi, I was due to have a laproscopy a few months ago at my local hospital because of my adenomyosis, endometriosis and 6cm cyst on my right ovary. However the surgeon cancelled the surgery and said I need to be transferred to a specialist hospital. After 3 months, I attended my appointment today. I was told I will need to repeat my MRI scan and assess all the factors before they go ahead with my surgery.
They suggested I try a new pill called dienogest and stop my contraceptive pill. Has anyone tried this pill? I wanted to get some feedback if it helped ? Advice will be kindly appreciated.

Dienogest has been a life saver for me. It did take about 3 months for my body to adjust but now I’m so grateful. First three months my period became longer and heavier. Pain gradually started to ease up in month three. I now have normal periods, spotting in between which is annoying. But overall so much better than what I was experiencing before I started taking it.
Best of luck on everything. Try and push through the beginning it will hopefully be worth it.
Aww thank you so much Chennbee for replying. I'm glad to hear it has helped you and your periods are better now. I will start the pill. Still unsure whether I will need the surgery or not as my ovaries have moved near my bowels now.
I actually never was on birth control and when I got diagnosed with endo started taking Dienogest, so I guess I can‘t compare the two? However I had no problems at all with it. Been taking it for almost a year now. I had consistent light spotting and a few hot flushes for the first 2 months or so but nothing else at all and it‘s stopped my periods completely since. Everyone is different and there‘s definitely some people with more side effects but I‘d honestly give it a go, you never know!
I‘ve had surgery for endo and been on dienogest ever since, so far it‘s keeping it stable. Not sure if it‘s the pill or the surgery ofc, but not having periods sure is nice too.
