Hi everyone,
I'm doing a little bit of research so I can take a huge stack of notes to my next gynaecology appointment, and wondered if anyone was able to share their experiences.
I'm looking at potentially freezing some of my eggs, as I have endometriomas. I'm still undecided as to whether I want children (though I lean more towards child free), but would likely donate these eggs to my brother and his husband in the future. Has anyone been through the harvesting process? I'm concerned that the hormones I'll have to take might make my endometriosis worse, or that the endometriomas might make the harvesting difficult.
I'm also weighing up the potential of a hysterectomy, purely because of how heavy my menstrual bleeding is - I'm having to go to A&E for blood transfusions, and have been permanently anaemic for 15 years. I'm losing litres of blood over day (and bleed for 16 days a month like this), so I'm trying to weigh up whether having the hysterectomy would help me to cope better with the blood loss, and help me not to be so poorly. But then I'm concerned that I might then not be able to access treatment for the remaining endometriosis and endometriomas. Has anyone had a hysterectomy for really heavy bleeding, and has it made a difference? Have you had any issues later down the line following the hysterectomy? I've previously tried 41 different types of pill/coil/patch and nothing has helped, alongside things like Tranexamic Acid, which have had no effect; I seem to be running out of things to try, and I'm really conscious of the stress the heavy bleeding puts my body through. Also have regular tests for clotting disorders, and cancers, but don't have any.
I've tried looking for research and journal articles to help me decide, but as you can imagine, there's very little! I'd be really grateful if anyone is able to share their experiences, because I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
