I am four half weeks post lap and before the procedure it was recommended I had the marina coil this has always been a no go and not advised by my consultant as I suffer with migraines and have always taken a mini pill which prior haven't worked. Being on the spot and desperate I agreed to try it but in all honesty I feel poop I'm getting pulling and crampin in my lower tummy I have had bleeding for 11 days straight with all the same symptoms I had prior to my endo removal and my skins horrendous ๐ is it the coil or normal after lap I'm going insane and drs ain't an option because they don't give a ๐ฉ not had a follow up yet. Have I made right choice.

After my first lap, I got the coil in and I did experience similar symptoms. I got mine removed recently, after having it in 6 months post op, because it didnโt stop my period and it made my moods low.
Every bodies is different so it might settle but if it doesnโt, speak to your consultant.
Thank you so much sydneyrow12 for your reply, this is very helpful I will persevere for now in the hope it settles hopefully it will. Hope you find some relief xx
I can't comment with regards to the surgery as I haven't had any, but I had mirena coil fitted 6 months ago after having my initial consultant appointment. I didn't want a coil but kind of felt pushed into it cos otherwise I don't think they believed how bad my endo symptoms were. I am having an awful time with the coiland am desperate to get it removed. Bleeding a lot less but for a lot longer. Last period was 16 days. Agonising headaches. Terrible moods. I can't wait to get it out.
You weren't wrong to give it a try. But if it doesn't work for you I'd get it removed. At least you can tell them you tried
Thank you A2909 really hope your able to get some answers soon and help with the endo it's an agonising process. Thank you for your reply I feel the same as you ๐ข definitely felt pushed and the symptoms so far can I ask sis you have any pain in your breasts mine absolutely kill ๐ xx
Yep. Never had breast pain before (even when pregnant- I'm very lucky to have been able to have kids) but now they are painful. Not agony, but painful, which is really odd for me.
I agree A2909 you weren't wrong to try it, but if it's not working...I had the coil fitted post surgery a few years ago and I had to have it removed after a few days as I was in worse pain than ever, but I know loads of people who have it with no problems. Please don't be in pain ๐
I'd say give it some time for everything to settle. Im diagnosed with endo and adenomyosis. I'm onto my 3rd coil all fitted during surgery and now my body is used to it I couldn't go back to the heavy painful periods I have without it. It doesn't stop my period but I only get a very very light show and almost no uterine pain during the bleeding. I suffer other endo pain/symptoms that it doesn't help with but the lack of heavy painful periods is a godsend for me. I also suffer with migraine but unlike all the myriad of oral hormones I've tried the coil has not made them worse if anything I get them less frequently although I still get headaches. All oral hormones make me feel awful so the coil is the only thing I tolerate.I would note that I didn't do well with my first one (crampy) but at that point my uterus was tilted backwards due to endo. This was later fixed and coil 2 and 3 have been great. Some irregular bleeding is normal for first few months.
I hope it settles for you and helps but as the others say if its really not working then you can ask for removal.
Thank you so much Henley13 this has been so helpful. Like you the heavy bleeding has always been an issue for me I never had a rest. I have already had a 12 day cycle ๐ and continuously cramping and spotting but it's so hard to distinguish between post surgery and coil. At the moment I feel so crappy with it but I will give anything a chance. May I ask sis you put any weight on with the coil ? I am unsure if I'm still swollen from surgery and holding water or it's the coil and will this settle also xx
Hi there. Bless you, post surgery is a tricky time and gard to knownwhats causing what.I've not put on weight with the coil. I am however perimenopausal and have noticed my waist has thickened in last couple of years. I also get bad bloating, start the day normal and have swollen tummy by the end of the day but think that's the endo rather than the coil.
Really hope you start to get the benefit of your surgery soon and that you feel more comfortable soon. Take care.
I had the coil fitted whilst in for my lap because they made it sound like the only treatment you'd be getting post op. I'm having a terrible time with my skin and moods and now suffering from migraines quite often. I thought being on antidepressants made me numb, but this is a whole new level for me. I haven't had constant bleeding with mine, but I haven't had a normal period since having it fitted 6 months ago. I find I'm now spotting for prolonged periods of time rather than having a 'regular' period.
I'm also considering having mine removed because it hasn't improved my pain and I'm not seeing the benefits of it personally. I did get recommended to take an additional progesterone pill on top, but honestly what's the point of chucking more contraceptives in when you've not had a positive experience with them and they don't really help the problem. It's so frustrating!
I would say give it more time if you can manage it though, I was told to let it settle for 6 months - year for your body to get used to it. You're still quite early on in your recovery and your body has a lot to heal before it can get itself back into a normal cycle. I had quite an intensive procedure and it took me around 4 months to really get back to normal pain and mobility wise.
Thank you Leanne for replying. So sorry to hear your not getting along with the coil either ๐. I totally agree with you in not taking more pills it seems that's all that's provided when you have any pain or any other symptoms and nothing seems to work. I have gone similar to your experiences now after the constant bleeding it's spotting every day now and constant cramping and swelling it's exhausting. Let me know how you get on and what you decide. I will persevere for a few more weeks but if the symptoms don't improve IL look at my options. Hope things get better for you soon ๐ xxx
It's so hard to know what's normal and what isn't at the best of times, even more so healing from surgery. I think you're right to see how you go, you know yourself better than anyone else. If it helps see if your gp has a women's health nurse you can talk to, ours really helped with my worries and she gave me a load more information than I was given on discharge.
