Hi, i started a new pill on the 19th of august and it was to take my period away for three months as i have started a new job and wanted to be able to be fully reliable. However, my period has come 4 days ago and from then my bleeding has been on and off heavy. One hour there could be barely any blood and the next i could have clots of blood. I’ve also been experiencing awful cramps, that have been consistent throughout the whole 4 days. Nothing will help with them, i have took cocodamol and it done nothing, which usually it will help my period cramps.
I rang the doctor today and her answer was to give me MORE painkillers, which i do not want until i have an answer of why it is happening as she said it was a big strange.
Please if you have any advice or have experience something similar, let me know!! Thanks x

Yes. I have a doctors appointment in a few weeks. If they conclude it’s the pill, I will be happy to leave it behind and explore other options. I hope you have some answers soon.
Hi, just wanted to reply to say that I started desogestrel, and was expecting my periods to stop within 3 months. However, it has taken 5 months, and I'm glad I persevered. I am now on my 2nd month of no bleeding at all (month 7 in total) and pretty much all pain and discomfort have disappeared. I get the odd dull cramp here and there, but the difference has been incredible.
In the first 5 months, I got bad skin, irregular bleeding, strange cramps. But then the day I started the 6th pack of desogestrel, overnight a massive improvement and so much relief.
I think the information online, and the huge amount of other people's reviews and experiences, tends to give a false sense of when to expect to see results. I know this doesn't help at the moment, and I do hope it settles down for you soon, if you are able to persevere like I did, you may find it does get better
Speak to your docs and I hope things are better for you soon. XX
The Mirena coil was a lifesaver for me after years of excruciating, heavy, irregular and very long periods. It stopped me having periods altogether, which initially wasn't something I thought I wanted, but I'd never look back now!
I had the same experience when I went on progesterone only pill. It wasn't controlling symptoms. Possibly because pills are quite low dose now. I'm not sure. I had a mirena coil as well and that has worked for me. I have the coil and take progesterone pill on top. My periods have stooped so no heavy bleeding and no pain. Just the odd twinge and occasional spotting. Hope things get better for you
