I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this or can advise on what to do? It is suspected that I have endometriosis, to try help improve things for me I was placed on the minipill. When first changing to it I had a 2 week long heavy excruciatingly painful period. Since then I've still had a lot of pain and occasional bleeding so I've been advised to double up the pill. This however doesn't seem to have made a difference as I'm having a really painful period again and on day 11. I know the minipill is supposed to stop periods, Is this normal, has anyone else been through this? What should I do? The consultant wants to give me the Merina coil but if this is whats going to happen I cant deal with that all the time.

I had exactly the same thing, the doctor gave me tranexamic acid and told me to take it for 5 days and now period has stopped (thank goodness! Two weeks of bleeding takes it out of you doesn’t it?) would defo recommend tranexamic acid xx
I've been placed on that now too. Been on it since Friday so hopefully will see some changes. Just seems to be coming a pattern now. Seem to be on more than I'm off.
Oh that’s horrible for you! Hopefully it will improve soon ❤️ I also have Adenomyosis which the surgeons didn’t tell me about, it was actually months after the lap that the endo nurse said I have Adenomyosis too (as it was on my notes from the lap) and that’s why I still get heavy bleeding even after they removed some of the endo growths (they had to leave one growth which was on my cervix).
I tried 2 mini pills over a 12 mth period, giving them ‘time to settle’. Never stopped my bleeding, was lighter but longer and more often. I came off it 2 mths ago and now waiting to come on again.
I'm on a double dose of the minipill in theory to try and shrink my Endo but I still get some bleeding. I've tried all sorts of hormones/contraception over the years, I feel like they all work for about 6 months then my body decides they don't work anymore. My sister is on single dose of minipill and hasn't had bleeding for years so seems to be dependent on the person.
Hi I recently tried the mini pill I was on it for 11 weeks before I'd had enough, I had one week off from the bleeding and had heavy bleeding with huge clots sorry if too much information, throughout the time I was on it, I asked for a double dose but was told I had to give it six months to settle in 😕. I'm now trying the prostrap injections. That has slowed down the bleeding considerably. And I've been told it might take a month to settle down. I will add I have fibroids so that might be why the mini pill didn't work for me, or perhaps if they had agreed to a double dose I might have been OK. Hope you find a solution, sending you a big hug ❤️
I'm pretty much the same, having clots and what not. Feel like I'm in more than I'm not. Pains killing me, I can't even go for a 10min walk around the block anymore. I'm just not too keen on whether I want the coil or not as I've seen so many horror stories.
The mini pill has worked really well for me. It took about 4-5 months to stop my period and endo pain but after that never had pain again. Hope you find a suitable solution. Good luck
I had a awful time on the mini pill. Did nothing for my pain and like you I was still bleeding. It’s rather common for it not to work or women to be intolerant to it. I would suggest trying a combination pill instead 😊
it helped straight away and only got light bleeding during the break week. I do remember Getting some breakthrough sometimes but that never triggered the endo pain thankfully 😅 but I got weird migraines/fainting spells and couldn’t keep food down so I came off it for those reasons
Yeah I started on the combined pill but I had headaches and high blood pressure when on it so had to come off which is when they switched me to the Mini Pill which again has been awful since.
Hi I gave up last week now trying protstap injections, still having a bleed but it raked a while to settle in apparently, but at least I can leave the house without freaking out. Hope you find a solution sending you a big hug x
I have had the same experience on POP. Nearly finished month 3 on the pill and have bled more since starting it than I did before. I bled continuously for 4 weeks, then stopped for 10 days, but have now started again. tranexemic acid didn’t work for me. I hope you find something that works for you.
