Sex has been extremely painful for me for years, as a result of my endo. Today, my partner and I attempted penetrative sex. It was painful, but I managed for a bit before we stopped. That was several hours ago, and I've just gone to the loo and found a fair amount of blood in my knickers. I'm not on my period, and I've never had this before.
Does anyone else have experience of this? Should I be worried?

Not yet - I had my lap in November, so this is all new. My follow up from the lap is in Feb, and I'm seeing a consultant then so I've been saving up all of my questions for them!
I used to bleed after sex, it’s always something you should get checked out by a gp. It can be something harmless (I got told I had a cervical ectropion which is nothing to worry about but does cause bleeding), or could be something else. I would go and get it checked. I have just been told since my lap a few days ago that my endo has infiltrated through my vaginal wall so they removed part of it (but also said that is fine and won’t affect anything as this tissue heals very well) so it could have been this all along I don’t know! But best to get it checked. Hope it goes well x
Hiya - I went to my GP, who basically dismissed me and said that it was just cause of my endo. She was awful! I'm going to a GUM clinic next week to get them to have a look, and I'm going to arrange to see a different GP when I can!
I always think a woman gp would be more understanding but often they aren’t. Hope you had more luck at the clinic. You shouldn’t have to live with these symptoms so fingers crossed someone listens!
Funny that, isn't it - but the male GP I saw was much more understanding. It's not happened since, and he examined me and said I looked healthy, but that if it happens again to go back and he'll run some more tests. So I'm feeling much more reassured
That’s good, at least he took you seriously. Hopefully that’s the end of it now 👍
Hi Sarah, I have stage 4 endo and heavy bleeding after sex is a common occurence for me. I also suffer from terrible pain during and after sex which is just soul destroying.
You should always get any new symptoms checked out and not just attribute it to your endo.
Definitely worth a chat with your gp or gynaecologist.
It's awful isn't it? I find the pain during sex the worst part of my endo to cope with emotionally You're right, I'll go and see my GP or gynae - I think it's a really easy trap to fall into, just blaming it all on the endo!
I agree, it's very difficult to cope with as it has such an impact on the relationship with our partners. My husband is very understanding but there is a limit to his patience!!
Hi there could be your endometriosis the pill has helped so much with the deep pain after sex also helped by diet , I also had my cervix quaterized and told lining is thin this also seems to have settled ,if you suffer from IBS this can also cause pain during intercourse , good luck
