Hello,I will start by saying I don't yet have an endometriosis diagnosis. I've tried to find a general gynaecology group on here but can't find one.
Back in October, not long after ovulation I had abnormal bleeding. There was most blood on the day it started (only visible when wiping) and then there was smaller amounts of spotting on and off until my period.
The almost identical thing then happened in November and December. I've had a few other symptoms, some pain in my lower back, abdominal area and some discomfort around my vagina.
I had been planning to make a GP appointment in January after the Christmas period. I was assuming it was something hormone related as it was happening at the same time in my cycle each time.
However, my period ended 3 days ago and I have continued to have pain and spotting (red/pink) since. This has sent me into complete panic as it does not match the pattern and has made more serious things, such as cervical cancer, seem more likely.
I will be making a GP appointment but I am now very frightened.
(In the past, I have wondered about endometriosis - I generally have quite painful periods and used to have quite variable menstrual cycles - 28-40 days but this has been more settled over the last couple of years)
Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to stop my mind running away with itself.
Thank you.
(I am 33, no children, if that is relevant)

Hello, your concerns are completely valid. Can I ask when your last smear test was and what those results were?
I have ongoing bleeding, I have previously had a cervical ectropian (cells which grow on the cervix similar to those inside the uterus) which bleed on movement/exercise or when touched. That was treated by burning under aesthetic. Other issues which could cause bleeding are polyps and fibroids.
Absolutely book that appointment with the gp, ask for whomever is most experienced with gyne issues. They should be able to take a look at the cervix to see if all looks well and refer you to gyne. Try not to panic, there are many causes for bleeding between periods. If your smear is up to date and results normal, this should provide some comfort until you can get answers with the gp/a gynaecologist. Xx
Thank you for replying. I haven't had a smear in the last 2 years, so quite a while for something to develop. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself but it's hard not to think the worst at the moment.
When my out of period bleeding started, it was two years post my last smear which was hpv positive and changes to cells. So when I started to bleed I had an absolute breakdown thinking the worst.
The go should be able to take a look to see for any visible changes. Absolutely reiterate how it’s not normal for you, all changes to be bleeding should be investigated promptly. X
This happened to me as well, think it had also been about 2 years since my smear but when I had it done it was all clear. Including having incredibly painful periods and very heavy bleeding. Also was 29/30 at the time and no kids so very similar to you!
I was diagnosed with a polyp which I had removed and was told that would be the cause of the abnormal bleeding. It still didn’t stop so I went back, and eventually was diagnosed with endometriosis.
It can take a bit of a fight to get someone to listen. But keep pushing until someone pays attention. And don’t take a clear ultrasound as everything’s fine.. you know your body and when something isn’t right! Happy to answer any questions you have!! Xx
Yeah I did! Bleeding in between periods, near enough every month. Usually around ovulation for 3/4 days. 1st day was like a light period then spotting after that!
Hi I've had abnormal bleeding for years. I've had colposcopy, hysterscopy, biopsies and smear test. Turns out I have endometriosis, fibroids, a cyst and ademyosis. But no cancer, yes it's very scary but try not to worry, sending you a safe hug too 🤗
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Sorry to hear you've had so many things going on. It is reassuring to me though to hear alternatives to cancer.
Hi you're most welcome, i totally understand how you feel, i was the same, i waited nine weeks for my biopsy results and the fear i had was just awful. I hope you get answers soon, and it's nothing serious that they can sort out swiftly and easily. Have a peaceful weekend sending safe hugs x 🤗
