HiI'm 6 weeks post op after having large endometrioma cyst removed, right ovary removed and right fallopian tube removed. During surgery they also found a fibroid which too was removed.
My CA125 has now returned to normal at 21, it was 141 prior to surgery. My consultant has started me on a treatment plan of Prostap for 6 months, tibalone and the mini pill.
All was going well and no real side effects to talk of from the prostap apart from severe fatigue. I did however also end up with 2 incision infections requiring 2 lots of oral antibiotics and topical as it was unfortunately MRSA, seems to be cleated now.
I have a question relating to periods on prostap, the consultant told me she would not expect me to have a period at all as the prostap and mini pill stops the functioning of the ovary. I know some women on prostap get bleeding which is linked to fibroids breaking down, but I don't have any. Anyway I'm 24 days post 1st prostap and I am currently on day 4 of my period, it's definitely a period due to the cramps, the blood loss pattern etc. I have been signed off my gynae consultant back to gp as everything was going as expected.
I had a phone consultation with my gp earlier and he thinks I should have had full hysterectomy and does not think the bleeding is normal so has referred me on a 2 week wait back to gynae. I feel a bit stupid and like it's a bit not necessary, could my ovary be over riding the pill and prostap?
Thanks for any advice

did you start tibolone at same time? Advice is to wait 3 weeks after first jab of prostap before starting the tibolone (hrt) as there is an oestrogen surge and it needs time to drop down again.
Bleeding on prostap or the mini pill isn’t unusual. To be honest I’ve never come across someone taking both but I’d assume you can bleed on both so I think it just means neither work for you that well. They don’t work for everyone so it’s not that unusual.
Best to be checked out and the 2 week wait is best way to go as irregular bleeding can be significant but I’d try not to worry and just put it down to being unlucky and injections not working g for you.
Hi thanks for your reply. Under my consultant guidance I started tibalone same day as prostap, the way it was explained to me is I'm on the Prostap to shut off the ovary so I need the mini pill to replace the progesterine and the tibalone to replace the oestrogen and to deal with the side effects of the chemical menopause. I have been put on mini pill previously several years ago but I bled everyday for 6 weeks and became badly anaemic so my gp took me off it and explained that my body is not tolerating it well. I explained this to the consultant but she was confident that the combination of all 3 meds would counter balance each other and prevent any bleeding.
I'm on the back end of 2 of my incisions being infected with MRSA as well but that seems to be clear now and I'm about 7 weeks post op.
Hopefully I will be seen in gynae soon and have a plan to move forward with, I think they will probably suggest a hysterectomy as originally planned as everything else gas been exhausted and not worked (meds, coil, ablation, surgery).
The odd thing is that Tibolone is basically combined HRT - so it has oestrogen, progesterone and Testostorene in. So sounds like you are doubling up the progesterone. I hope you feel better soon and get seen in Gynae soon. Good luck
