Hi i'm new here & looking for advice please. My surgeon has put me on Prostap Sr jags for 6 months, on his referral form to treatment room it states that i will have 1 every 4 weeks on the second day of my cycle. After my first jag on 18.02.2020 & my second jag wasn't until 24.04.2020 then unexpectedly 2 weeks later & my third jag was on 08.05.2020. My nurse has informed me she can only administer jag as per referral form & if duration between each is different from last i need new form from my doctor each time & doctor is not happy that she needs to do this at short notice. Will my periods continue to be irregular during the coarse of jags? Any advice or info would be appreciated thanks.

Periods During Prostap Sr jags
Im assuming the gap between your first and second injections was so long because of Covid and the GPs not seeing people, however I don’t know why they would give you a further injection less than 2 weeks after. They need to be exactly 4 weeks apart or you won’t see any benefit from them. Your periods will continue to be irregular and you will probably still have some bleeding. Your nurse is also correct that she has to follow the instructions given by the prescribing doctor. I would clarify with your consultant why they are trying to give you one 2 weeks early
That's really poor treatment as you should get them every four weeks on the right date. Make a big fuss, this isn't your fault and is not your problem to sort out. However, everything is messed up at the moment.
The trouble with endometriosis is you have to fight for everything and look out for yourself as very few medics take an interest in this horrible condition.
Doctor questioned me as to why i wasnt regular but normally i am before i started these jags. She said she was unsure with it being so soon after last jag but also understands that it has to be given on 2nd day of cycle either that or skip 1 & risk having to start over again. Ive tried calling hospital for advice but Gynaecology Dept closed & cant get hold of any1 to talk to
I would seriously think about talking to your consultant as I think the doctors may have read your treatment plan wrong. Your first injection of Prostap needs to be in the first few days of your cycle, as they said, which will put you into an artificial menopause. Every injection after that should be 4 weeks apart. The 2nd day of your cycle is fairly irrelevant after that initial dose. The reason they say to have the first injection in the first few days of your cycle is you get a hormone spike just after you start having them, and that should be over by the time your next injection is due. You shouldn’t have a period whilst doing the course. If you wait until you do have a period and then have another dose, the Prostap will never really take effect, which completely defeats any point of being on it.
If it was me, I'd get on to the surgery first thing tomorrow and be persistent. It's not easy I know but your GP should really sort this out for you. How you've been treated is really poor in my opinion. They should never have given you an injection only two weeks after a previous one.
You have a serious illness (which is never recognised as such by most doctors unfortunately) and you need help.
I've discovered over many years you have to fight for all the help you get with endometriosis and it all gets exhausting.
Good luck and just be quiet but firm and persistent. Don't give up!
