mirena coil ?: What’s everyone’s... - Endometriosis UK
mirena coil ?
I’m due to have mine fitted on Monday and terrified it’s going to affect my mood and make my pain worse. Anyone on hear with advice I would appreciate also ❤️
I have no issues with my coil. Cramping for 1-2 weeks after insertion. No periods. No spotting. I have no other side effects I think it’s brill.
The first few weeks after insertion can be painful but I made the mistake of getting mine removed early and after 2 years my Endo was so bad that I ended up having an oopherectomy and back on it, it has been 3 years and things are better. Good luck
still experiencing cyclical pain, though perhaps a bit less?????? Still very debilitating though. Menstrual flow much reduced. Use tens machine and meds, sometimes Co-codamol.
Please god do not do it. its not worth it you feel violated and i had a haemorrhage from it. Its not designed for endo and the specialists dont tell us that
I had a bad experience with Mirena, though I know it helps a lot of women. They tell you that the bedding in period for Mirena is 6 months so when I was in pain all the time I thought that was to be expected. After 4 months I couldn’t take the pain anymore and had it removed. I later found out after a prep for another procedure that I have a heart shaped uterus which wouldn’t have been able to hold it in place (it needs the uterine walls pressing in on it to hold it). No check was done for this before it was put in I should add, and everyone seemed to think I was crazy wanting it out. Good for some but not for all!
I'm 6 days post laparoscopy and mirena coil insertion. I've got spotting and cramps, currently trying to distinguish between mirena and post op pain! I've struggled with my mood since forever and it's been made worse by contraceptive pills in the past. I don't feel like the mirena has had a massive affect mood wise, I don't know if it's too early to tell but I'm trying to persevere because I've heard it's got such positive effects on endo! I can control the pain with paracetamol, ibuprofen and hot water bottles, feels like a 'normal' period cramp but not constant throughout the day. Hope yours is settling down ❤️
