I was diagnosed with Endo around 10 years ago, I had a laparoscopy which helped a lot and luckily had a baby 7 years ago. I have since had the Mirena coil fitted and whilst it has helped previously the past year my pain has returned and I also have irregular bleeding.
Has anyone else experienced this after having the coil fitted?

Hi Jodie, I have Mirena for over 3 years now and it helped me for about 2 Months. All of my symptoms came back and gotten worse. In 2019 had my second surgery, new Mirena was fitted in as well. The bleeding and pain became unbeareble. Now receiving Decapeptyl injection and however it worked for 1-2 weeks, other than bleeding every symptoms are back. They told me to be patient because it takes half year for Mirena to work, but it's been years and did not do anything good for me. I am just terryfied of removing because of the pain I would experience. I'd recommend you to discuss alternative options and/or combine Mirena with pills or injection. All the best xxx
I have had about 3 coils now but have to change them more regularly, I’m not sure if the hormones reduce after a couple of years and that’s why it’s happening...???
I was advised to try the Mirena coil by my GP shortly after I had my daughter, who's now 14. I bled and spotted constantly and was told to be patient and put up.with it, that it would settle down. A year later and I had had enough of pain and bleeding and had it removed. There are a few other options you could try, such as the contraceptive injection Depo Provera which basically stops your periods. I'd see if you can book an extended appointment with your GP to discuss your options. Good luck with it all xx
Most likely your pain just getting worse, it happened to me as well. I’ve tried many many different hormone combinations. Right now in Decapeptyl which makes my IBS just worse. Hope your gyno will sort it out. All the best xxx
I’m not sure how long you have had it? My first one only seemed to last four years and my current was is due to be changed and I’ve had symptoms for about six months. I’m told they are made to last six years but changed at five years but for me they don’t last like that.
The coil helped me for a year or so then I started getting a lot of break through bleeding and the pain got more intense & frequent. I’ve had it removed, not on any contraception yet because I’ve tried everything else to no avail..
Following with interest, had mirena fitted in May this year, pain still bad and heavier bleeding than before, consultant has prescribed POP now to stop the bleeding but i feel really anxious about so many hormone treatments... and im still in pain with random bleeding!
