I have been booked a hysteroscopy. I have looked at nhs and found all the usual stuff, please could anyone share what is it actually like and could you go to work the next day?
I have been experiencing heavy bleeding at periods and spotting. Constant lower back ache and stabbing pains in pelvis. I guess my endo is back, any ideas if that has been seen on this sort of procedure?
Thank you

They don’t normally diagnose endo. It’s usually for things like polyps, fibroids and take biopsy of womb if for example your lining is thicker than normal. An ultrasound would normally be the first thing to do.
Hi, I had a hysteroscopy as part of the exploration stuff up to getting an endo diagnosis (we all feel sure I have it but you know what NHS is like). Luckily I found it to be OK. I take codeine for pain management of endo symptoms anyway so just had my usual dose. Couple of sharp twinges during the procedure but was OK. I got them to let my hubby stand next to me so I could squeeze his hand if needed. I have had 2 kids though so not sure if that could have made it 'easier'. They also put a coil in. The first coil I had put in pre kids was agony, whereas this one was fine, so....
I experienced light bleeding for about 4 days afterwards. A bit of cramping the same day but was only light. Felt a bit bloated and tender for a few days around my pelvis, but fine generally. I think work the next day would depend on the type of work you do.
I’ve had 2 Hysteroscopys now. Some very light bleeding afterwards , maybe slightly bloated , some small cramps. But I don’t remember anything else, I just had a couple of polyps removed so I guess it depends on what they do.
Re: endo , as far as I know they can’t see that with this procedure but can identify adenemyosis if present.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad procedure at all, nothing to worry about . I took the next day off just because you tend to be a bit tired from general anaesthetic ( I’m on my feet all day with my job) I think it’s good mentally to have it off also .
