Hysteroscopy & bleeding

Hi,

I’ve had some messages from some of you lovely ladies already but wanted to ask generally as well has anyone had heavy bleeding after hysteroscopy. I had a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy yesterday and online I can only see it says expect spotting for a few days. I definitely wouldn’t call my bleeding spotting. I have been lay down for most of the day but I am getting quite a bit of heavier bleeding now.

I don’t know what is ok and when I should ring the hospital 🤔 I’m just starting to panic a little bit. Any experience from anyone is much appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry for the TMI but to give you an idea I’ve been filled a large night time pad and quite a lot of blood in the toilet when I manage to actually get up and go 😩

Hi there , I had a hysteroscopy back in September, I was fine for the first couple of days then I had a bleed from hell for 3 days, I was told it was due to having the biopsy, I've still got problems with the pmb even though everything came back normal and clear, so back again in January to see the consultant and probably have to go through it all again, I was told see if it settles after a few days if not go back. Hopefully it will all settle down for you.

I haven’t experienced a hysteroscopy myself but I am a nurse and generally if something is bleeding more than is expected after a procedure I would recommend a check up. Hope this helps x

Are you bleeding through your pads? Do you know if they removed any fibroid/polyps or anything from your uterus? They could also have taken a biopsy. That can cause quite a bit of bleeding (this happened to my Nana.. all the women in my family have had horrible gynecological problems.) Also during the lap they could have used a uterine manipulator which can also cause bleeding, so if you had both it was probably a bit too much on your poor uterus!

If you are very concerned at the amount of blood I would call and get things checked ASAP. Better safe than sorry! I hope you are alright x

I had 3 procedures done yesterday Laparoscopy, Endoscopy, Hysteroscopy, I have had some bleeding but nothing heavy, please if you are worried phone up the nurses and speak to them, give you piece of mind too xx

I had a hysteroscopy and a laparoscopy last week. I had some spotting but definitely not any heavy bleeding. As the ladies above me have said, I would suggest you get some medical advice even if it’s just for your own peace of mind x

I had a hysterscopy about a month ago, bleeding was like heavy period for about 4 days before calming down, I was told to expect this so I'd say normal x

If you soak a pad in an hour that's not normal

I had a full hysterectomy last november. It had light spotting for a couple of days and it seemed to stop. A couple of weeks later i thought id wet myself. Looked down and saw blood on my compression socks. Got up to the bathroom and sat on the toilet to find a FULL pad of blood and it was still coming...not gushing but if scared the s**t outta me! I rang the hospital and they said i needed to ring for an ambulance as i was still bleeding (do you realise that even when ringing an ambulance they ask you lots of questions which is normal....but you know its a script when you tell them at the beginning that someones had a full hysterectomy and after some more questions they ask "is she pregnant?" ?????!!!!!! WTH? )

So i was admitted to a&e and they put me on a drip and checked for possible infections and a consultant gave me an exam... i stayed in for 3 days. I had to have a scan to check nothing had been nicked and was now bleeding internally.

It turns out that it was blood that had pooled at the stitches and had leaked out. When i got to see my consultant he said how sorry he was for the bad experience and that i had done the right thing by getting checked out. He explained that as there is a gap where the womb was all the organs start to move into place and and blood from the op can pool at the site this normally comes out in drips and drabs. As i had a tilted womb it may have been due to the positioning. He said if it hadnt come out that way and i had the routine scan in the follow up appt booked and it showed the blood pooled he would have had to get me back in if it was that much to remove it just incase of infection.

There was still a little left but it was safe to leave as the amount was so small the body would just reabsorbe it.

Thats my story...personal but true and a little scary....but please PLEASE get it checked it doesn't take long and its better than leaving it. (Better safe than sorry later).

Please letnus know how you get on.

Xxx

Thank you to everyone who advised me on this post. Just wanted to update it for anyone who might come across it in the future.

The bleeding was heavyish for the 1st 2 days. I’m used to extremely heavy bleeding but it wasn’t as heavy as I have experienced in the past during a bad period. I probably went through 2 night time pads each of the 1st 2 days. So I didn’t ring the hospital, I decided that wait it out ...

On the third day it settled, 4th day even less, 5th day hardly any bleeding and today which is 6th day... no bleeding yay!

Just thought someone might find this post in the future so didn’t want to leave it with no update! Thank you again everyone who replied to me 😊
