does anyone take morphine for pain if so how much
pain relief : does anyone take morphine... - Endometriosis UK
pain relief
Yes i do, but i would prefer not to. I'll explain why!
1. It is addictive, like REALLY addictive. I've had periods where I ran out of morphine and OMG was it awful. Shaking, vomiting, whole body pain. Withdrawl is awful.
2. Constipation and drowsiness is horrid.
3. It doesn't completely relieve the pain, only takes the worst of it off.
I'm hoping to come off it and move to something better like gabapentin. I would never recommend anyone used morphine as a daily painkiller, purely on an addictive basis. But as an emergency, like only on your period or ovulation once or twice a month (not for more than 3 days at a time) then it would be okay. You will need something for the constipation though! Can't say what ml/mg I'm taking because I'm not a doctor and medication should only be upped or lowered by a medical professional. Dosage is personal to the patient, you need to discuss this with them directly.
