Hi just wondering if anyone else has experienced a delayed missed period after their laparoscopy? I had a lap in May during my period, the period after came on time but this one isn’t showing any signs of coming anytime soon. Mine are always very regular and come on day 27 or 28 so feeling a bit concerned and wondering if it’s due to surgery. Pregnancy test is negative. Thank you

Missed period (second one) after laparoscopy and ablation
Hiya, I had an ablation last October, had a very light pinkish bleed a couple of weeks after then nothing since. I’m sure I read that some people don’t have a period after oneHope this helps
Thanks for your reply. It was ablation of my endo around my pelvis not in my uterus so don’t expect it to effect my cycle?
It shouldn’t do! What’s your weight currently like? Are you slightly under, normal or over? I wonder if the removal of Endo has dropped your estrogen levels so low you’re now not getting periods? If underweight, very likely!.. If not, then repeat the pregnancy test if there’s a chance and speak to your Dr! It might just be your body readjusting to your now new hormone level! Xx
Thanks for your reply. My weight’s normal to slightly over. It is a bit strange as the period four weeks after my lap was on time and quite heavy etc (as expected). Thanks for your advice, I will do! That’s interesting about endo removal and effect on estrogen though, hadn’t thought about that!
It most certainly can do that! The reason Endo is chronic, and can in some cases progress, is because it’s capable of creating its own estrogen! So removing it will drop your estrogen levels low, until your body readjusts back to normal levels!.. So it could very likely be that your surgery was so successful that they got all the Endo 🤞🏻!…. Xx
That sounds amazing! I’ve had some pain since the lap so was thinking it was unlikely to have done much but will go with that ☺️. Thank you xx
It takes 3 months at least to fully heal from a lap! Early pain means nothing!.. So fingers crossed everything settles down and you get many years pain free! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Xx
That’s good to know, thank you! I hope so too, that sounds amazing! Hope your well xx
I’m a bit more complex! Despite currently being massively underweight, over the age of 35 so my estrogen levels should be naturally dropping, and on no hormone therapy, I’m still menstrating, and still weakening from the effects of estrogen! Had comprehensive allergy tests this week which turns out I’m allergic to everything! Had a telephone consultation with Christie’s Endocrinologist today who’s getting me in for comprehensive hormone panel but says even he might not be able to find my problem because my health issues are so complex! And I’m still awaiting major, major surgery with 3 surgeons I’m probably unlikely to survive at this point! Lol! It’s all going down! But other than that, it’s all good! Lol xx
Oh my goodness that sounds very worrying! Hope your holding up ok, or as ok as you can be. Where did you get your allergy checks, was it privately? I’m guessing you’ve had a few surgeries and years of issues? What a struggle and what a shame anyone needs to go through pain let alone all the other physical and mental problems this causes ❤️
No, had it done on NHS cuz I have some funky allergy with the Sun! Had it done at St Luke’s in Bradford under dermatology! I have had the blood allergy tests in my younger days.
Actually the opposite! I was fobbed off for years, until I was sexually assaulted at 31 which lead me to sepsis markers, and a diagnosis of non-STI PID! Had 6 months of antibiotics and got sent for a lap! I was sent straight to tertiary care, where I got messed about with and eventually one major surgery! Spent 3 days in hospital and discharged with no follow up! I received a follow up in post and I remained on 3 monthly consultations for 5 years until I almost died from sepsis after an endometrioma went awry! Then it turned out they’d been lying to me for 5 years! I’m a ‘complex patient’ although they’ve never quite explained as to why! They agreed to surgery but definitely not rushing it! And I’ve yet to fully recover from my sepsis! So I’m having comprehensive testing while I wait! It would appear everything, including my immune system is weakening! So just don’t know what’s going on atm! Although it’s not good! Xx
I had my period on 16fh April and had my lap on May 9. My period has only just started (June 19th). If you're worried you can do a pregnancy test (I did) but my gynae told me it's completely normal to not have a period for a while after this surgery. They said its a shock for the body which can throw hormones off for a while.
FYI they didn't find any endo or do anything to my uterus. They did remove a cyst hanging off of one of my tubes and remove some adhesions.
Hiya! Mine was almost a week late and has been very pink/bright red. Hope you’re ok x
