I take Provera to manage my symptoms and things have been settled bleeding wise for a while now.
this past weekend I got really heavy bleeding with pain which made me collapse and then the pain settled for a couple days and then again yesterday, I got really heavy bleeding again and such bad pain.
I’m not sure why I have the bleeding, my bleeding has been settled and this has just happened out of nowhere.
My GP prescribed me tranexamic acid for a few days but also told me that the bleeding tends to come back once I stop taking it…
I don’t even know what to do, I’m not due to see my endometriosis consultant for a few months and I don’t even know if this is related

I have started Cerazette after Mirena and after 3 weeks on pills started bleeding. For 3 weeks 🤦🏻♀️ I have stopped pills and only tranexamic acid stopped bleeding.
No HRT helped me at all in 2 years, it only caused pain and bleeding.
Finally consultant prescribed me Prostap and I am waiting for a hysterectomy now 😕
I was on provera injections at 11 weeks for years without problems. Then a new nurse made me wait the 12 weeks and I bled with pain that stopped me in my tracks. It may be you need the injection authorised by gynae to move them up to 11 weeks. A A psychosexual Therapist was also able to get me this done which I was glad because the nurse and the GP was not happy with the gynaes direction. And it was only a 1 week wait to see the psychosexual therapist. But I have had my injection changed to 10 weeks.
The nurse and Dr will tell you this is not allowed, but Doctors who do this everyday know it can be done. The psychosexual Dr made sure to write that to my notes so I had a copy as proof incase I met another nurse refusing treatment.
If you are already taking the injection at 10 weeks this is not the problem.
I take tranexamic acid for very heavy periods and have severe endo. It works really well to stop the bleeding if I forget to take or delay a dose it’s noticeable immediately
4 days max. Which is difficult when my periods are 6-7 days. I tend to take it the day I come on my period for those 4 days. If your first day is light you could wait until later the second etc. And only 4 times a day so I take them about 6 hours apart
hey! I’ve been put on these for the first time and my bleeding stopped and then started again…went to A&E after talking to 111 and now I’ve been told to take these indefinitely whilst I wait for a scan (hopefully this week)
Has your bleeding persisted or when you take Tranexemic does it stop immediately?
hey - I’m not sure if the tranexamic acid really helped - it stooped for a bit but started again. I was told to only take for 5 days so I’ve been having heavy bleeding for around 2 weeks now with no luck…
The A&E doctor just told me that it happens with endo and it’s one of those things, I spoke with an endo nurse last week though who said it isn’t normal and has arranged a scan to see what else is going on.
In the meantime, I’ve been told to stop the provera and have a 7 day break to see if that helps
gosh, I’ve been bleeding for 10 days after taking my break from my contraceptive pill, the bleeding got heavier and heavier and then I passed 4 pretty big clots…
I’ve got to call the GP tomorrow to ask to be referred to an endo specialist in Derby and ask for a scan ASAP.
Hoping the Tranexamic pills will stop the bleeding soon…not sure what to do if it doesn’t 🙃other than go back to A&E, wait for 5 hours to be told it’s just Endo and be sent back home…
Hi I had problems with very heavy bleeding which soaked through my pad and clothing, with large clots and mefenemic acid helped a little but it certainly didn’t stop the bleeding for me.
Ended up having 2 endometrial ablations. This stopped the heavy periods.
After 2 years I am starting to bleed again although on HRT.
I think the only option is a hysterectomy 🥲
You could phone the gynaecologist secretary (your GP can give you the number). I have found that they are helpful, tel them what you are experiencing and ask for an appointment asap. I think it’s quicker to go straight to them instead of waiting for a GP appointment and then waiting for the GP to write to gynaecology xx
Thank goodness for this forum - it really helps to read other people's experiences. No wonder we are all a bit confused and anxious, this condition seems to vary a lot, as does the advice from medical professionals. I am sorry that I don't have any answers either, but just reading this thread, Endometriosis doesn't seem to be very predictable or easy to manage.
It almost feels like you get it under control with one medication or whatever then it fights back! Hope that it settles back down again and you can get some relief.
