I underwent diagnosis laparoscopy for endometriosis on Thursday morning and am recovering at home having had stage 1 endometriosis removed from my bladder. Feeling rather tender from the procedure as you can imagine and have been given co-codamol as painkillers. However, this has of course effected my bowels and I’ve not been able to open them. Is there anything anyone could recommend from the pharmacy as I’ve still got almost 48 hours left on these painkillers?!

I’m 11 post op lap hysterectomy/oophorectomy so been very uncomfortable and my constipation has been bad the doctors had given me laxido before my op that used to go work a bit too much the other way but I was drinking a couple a day and tried my usual calfig. But codeine was causing issues my father in law was having some issues and reminded me I have a gut health drink with microbial stuff in it that seemed to help. My surgeon called me the day after surgery and told me it’s normal for the bowels to get a bit stunned and stop working. I also have sluggish Bowels from my Hypermobilty (HEDS), so it’s no fun is the good news now I’ve stopped my codeine they are working again although still a little painful. I feel like I’ve got rid of period pains for bowel contractions now. Hope you feel more comfortable soon it does get easier. My first lap this is my 3rd my bladder became lazy and had to come home with a catheter.
Try movicol that works for me. I also increase the amount of water I drink. Also stewed apples help me. It’s a good excuse for apple crumble and custard.
