Missed periods

I had very successful surgery for stage 4 endo in 2019, since then I’ve tried merina coil and cerazette mini pill and neither work for me, I bled constantly on both. In between trying them both last year I had 6 months of irregular super heavy periods, 63 days was my longest cycle. I had some menopausal symptoms too in this time, I’m 36 years old.

Since I’ve been off all contraception my periods have been more normal for the last 4 months, every 4 weeks, up until now where I’m a week late, I’m definitely not pregnant. My gynae Brushed over my concerns that my ovaries were damaged from endo/surgery and that my ovaries could now be failing causing me to go into peri-menopause. I’m going to see how it goes over the next 6 months before I look to see a different specialist but I’m just interested to find out if anyone has a similar experience or knows a reason for my irregular periods?? Since I was 13 I have been a regular 4 weeks gal when not on contraception!! It’s very frustrating!xx

Since you came off all contraception, is this this the first time you've been late? How long have you been off contraception?

It could just be your cycle sorting itself out and finding it's stride - I was previously told this could take 6-9 months (but I'd been on contraception for a long time!) Also, our cycles can be affected by so many things - such as stress, our health, I know some people have reported cycles differences after covid vaccinations etc....

If its the first time I wouldn't automatically assume its peri-menopause, but it's worth keeping an eye out for other symptoms over the next few months. I'm 35 and had a total hysterectomy 4 months ago, and my consultant has said to keep a track of any menopause symptoms - maybe you could do the same if you're worried so you can go armed with the info to prevent any further wait when they ask you to track it!
