Whirlwind emotional rollercoaster

Hi everyone, just needed to pop in here to share what happened this week…

I had my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy appointment booked for Monday, was mentally prepared. They got me booked in did my blood pressure and urine test. About 5 mins before I’m due to go to theatre my consultant comes in and asks ‘have they told you?’ I reply ‘told me what?’, he says ‘the test results’ I say ‘what test results?’….‘you’re pregnant and I’m so sorry but I cannot do your surgery’

Im 48 sitting there with no partner as he’s not allowed to be with me in the hospital, and I’m just in total shock. The consultant was so, so lovely as were all the nursing team but I’m just sitting there thinking what on earth! We do another urine sample and it’s negative. I have the mirena and I’ve been in horrendous pain over the weekend so they send me to a&e for possible ectopic pregnancy. I do another urine sample when I get to a&e. Negative. They do urgent bloods there and 3 hours later (just after I’ve been given oramorph for the pain) they tell me hcg levels are 0.2 and I’m NOT pregnant. Im so disappointed that my surgery was cancelled as I just wanted some answers, and I can’t believe I had to text my other half to tell him to come get me and explain by text! That’s worse than dumping someone by text but I was a mess.

So anyway, I now have to wait till 22nd September for the surgery but wow what a total mess I was in and my partner was brilliant and the consultant was fantastic so fingers crossed no more drama!!

Has anyone else had similar? Did you ever find out what caused the false positive test?

hi hun how's u feeling now? i had a similar back and forth with my first pregnancy tests but eventually a blood test confirmed I was pregnant. I'm glad that u have such a supportive partner 😊 it's a shame that you went through all that for nothing 😔 hopefully ur not too disappointed? u could sue for emotional distress 😂 (sorry I'm not on the best terms with the NHS) I hope you get ur surgery soon xxxx

Haha I’m fine now, but totally understand and respect why they had to cancel surgery! I’m very lucky that everyone I dealt with at both hospitals has been amazing, so supportive and helpful. I have just got a new date for next month so I’m hopeful that goes to plan!!
