I have been diagnosed with endometriosis (via transvaginal US) but I do not have severe pain .. as i have read some posts here. But suffer from bloating and extreme extreme fatigue.
My question is .. do doctors opt for surgery if you do not have excruciating pain?
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It comes and goes but is manageable at the moment but sometimes a constant dull ache which shoots at times and subsides. But mostly a dull ache or nothing. I do have pain around my cycle though.
I suffer from extreme fatigue where i am not able to do anything and other symptoms so i am afraid tht they wont offer me the surgery.
Hey hun, I have the exact same! Pain really varies I was told by my consultant - everyone has different endo symptoms. I’m pretty much the same as you, I have no pain just around my period time. But I’m undergoing a lap in 3 days due to an endo cyst which I had no idea I had.
I’ve always suffered from extreme fatigue and dull aches here and there. My consultant mentioned that some patients have the worst pain and others have nothing at all. So it’s just a hit and miss. The level of pain does not determine the severity of endo.
I have cysts (like 3 in each ovary around 2/3 cm each) in both my ovaries/biolateral endometriotic cyst. So they are doing a scan in a few months to check the then current situation.
Not sure at what size they would go for surgery tho. I am scared tht it will get worse and make my symptoms severe.
The consultant was not very helpful as i feel i was rushed. And also the doc was gynecologist consultant not the endo .. so dont know if they will refer me to endo specialist. Tried once but to no avail.
Just wanted to hop on and say I have a cyst (5cm) in one ovary and my endo specialist is operating next week but mine does cause me quite a lot of pain during my period and I’m also wanting to preserve my fertility as much as possible. Xxx
That’s what I’m doing at the moment, it’s bliss not having a period but I want to concieve ASAP so I’m worried about what I’ll be like when I come off them but fingers crossed the surgery will help xx
Seems like your cysts are under 5cm, it’s usually when they’re over 5cm they’ll operate. Id advise to fry push through for surgery although it seems daunting only because you don’t want to end up with a large cyst. It’s treatable whilst they’re small they’ll simply just drain and remove the tissue. My cyst is 11cm on one ovary.
Hi the bgse I attend is only interested in pain as it’s not my worse symptom they just monitor me with yearly check ups. Too complex for surgery too. In my case there is little interest in helping me as pain is manageable
Hi everyone, I also have similar symptoms, so it’s good to know of others the same. I had a laparoscopy 7 1/2 weeks ago. I had a large cyst and it and my left ovary had attached itself to my left side of my pelvic cavity and my left ureter. I didn’t have many symptoms apart from fatigue and bloating and tenderness in my lower abdomen. The doctors and consultants etc thought It was cancer, so treated me very quickly and took biopsies etc after removing left ovary, tube and large cyst 12x11x10cm. Luckily it wasn’t cancer, but turned out to be Endo. Hence why i’m Here trying to understand it all. 🙂
I still don’t have the same levels of energy I used to. But to be honest I started feeling fatigue before the op and then after the op my body was healing from everything they did. Unfortunately they didn’t remove the Endo tissue on other areas. So i’m Just waiting to see how I will be from now onwards. Because I haven’t done much physical work or exercise other than walking and some light stuff for a couple of months now i’ve Lost strength and fitness. So i’m Hoping if I build that back up again I will feel less tired🤞🏻 But hard to know? I’m only just now starting to feel more back to myself and that’s nearly 8 weeks post op.
At first I thought the tiredness would go on forever, but it has improved! Hope your does too, I guess listen to your body and try and do gentle things to build yourself back up. Fingers crossed for you.
