Hi, I don't know if anyone can help but I have been suffering extreme chronic constipation for almost a year now, not going for 3 weeks at a time and now at the point laxatives and supposirtories are not working. For years before this I would go once a week. As well as this my menstrual cycle has got longer and more irregular. Can be between 35 and 60 days. As well az this i have a lot of bloating, discomfort, pains and pulling sensation around my ovaries. Mood swings, insomnia, night sweats, painful bowel movements when i do manage. Frequent urination. No doctor had suggested endo, I have come across it through research. Am I clutching at straws or does this sound familiar?
Do I have endo?!: Hi, I don't know if... - Endometriosis UK
Do I have endo?!
It does sound like endo 🤔 It could be a gastro disorder as well many women have both 🤔 Whats your doctor said? Because if you have chronic constipation its dangerous 😮
Hi Abi,
Thanks for your reply. I have seen several doctor's who have focused on the constipation. For years I have seen doctor' about my menstrual cycle but they have told me it's not an issue as long as I have so many periods a year. In the last 6 months I've had colonoscopy, transit study and biofeedback but was taken off biofeedback as there is nothing wrong with my muscles down there to go to the toilet! Im yet to go back to the doctor again and discuss all my symptoms including menstrual cycle and maybe suggest endometriosis but I don't want to suggest it if I could be completely wrong!
Thanks Abi, I will talk to my doctor and see what they think. I have tried everything for the bowel issues and nothing works. Feeling awful all the time and desperate to know why! ☹
Cascara Sagrada may help you go. Its much more gentle than senna. Take 1 or 2 with a meal before bed. Eat lots of veg and fiber foods like pineapple artichokes and popcorn. White breads and rice and meat are all constipating. Lots of fruit and veg and quinoa and brown rice can help. I've struggled with this too. Yes you may have it on the bowel. You may also be allergic to gluten that can causes those problems and usually occurs with Endo patients. I have both Endo and gluten and dairy intolerance they kind of all effect each other.. good thing though is if you did have any allergies to these foods and cut them out of you diet you should find relief in pain and inflammation
Hi! Thanks for your reply and thanks for your advice. I cut gluten out of my diet around 5 years ago as it always caused me problems. I try to eat no diary as much a a possible as this does seem to irritate my bowels. I have a high fibre diet and drinks lots of water, have tried flax seeds, peppermint oil, prunes amongst other stuff. As well as other more invasive methods prescribed by doctor's. Nothing seems to help. I get so bloated, I look pregnant. At the moment I'm struggling to eat because any small about of food makes me feel worse! And for 2\3 weeks before my period comes the symptoms get worse and i feel more pain and discomfort. Doctor's seem very blasé about it all and have not come up with any other suggestions than laxatives!
