Help!!!

I have suffered with queried endometriosis now for 8 years. Gynae thought it was initially polycystic ovaries as my testosterone levels were high and my cycle is very irregular. They never found any cysts though, but then the paid with periods started roughly 4 years ago. I had a hysterosalpinogram which came back clear, colonoscopy also came back clear (despite having horrific pain when opening bowels). I was then put on Zoladex which sent me in to a mental health crisis but did stop my endometriosis related pain.

However, like many of you, as soon as the Zoladex was stopped, my period returned with a vengeance. It took roughly a year to return and as soon as it did I was back at my GP for another referral to gynae due to the pain. This time gynae told me that the only way for me to be cured is for me to lose weight as I am clinically obese, my BMI is 40.

I left the appointment distraught but have deep down always known my weight was an issue, I do find it very hard to lose weight. And there’s also the dilemma of being 25 and wanting a family in the not too distant future which also limits my treatment options (that is a whole other story though, having not conceived in the past 6 years of unprotected sex)

In November this year, I came on my period and was on for a total of 21 days. I then on, off, on, off, on, off for two days, on for two days, off for a day, on for a day etc....

About two days ago, I had the most HORRIFIC pain I’ve ever felt in my uterine area, mid to left side. I rang the emergency doctors but they said there was nothing they could do as they had no access to blood tests and scans and that they would write to my GP. If the pain was that unbearable I should go to A and E. I felt it was very bad and debated whether to go or not but with the current situation decided to stay at home. Since then I don’t feel right. It feels as though when I need a wee, my bladder is about to burst, I’m struggling to open my bowels. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going with being on one day and off the next and the pain has been that bad, I’ve thought I was going to pass out or have to call an ambulance. Please please, can anyone help, offer advice, what should I do? Who should I turn to? Because I feel like the NHS just fob me off at every corner.

Yes I know I need to lose weight, but to lose the amount of weight I need to (5 stone), it will take time. Am I supposed to suffer in the meantime?

Thanks

Hannah

How are you feeling today?Sorry you’ve had dreadful answers from doctors. Out of hours do have access or triage and send you to A&E, the very least is to test urine for infection.

If you haven’t contacted GP, it’s worth doing to immediately rule out UTI. I use laxatives each day for bowels, but you should bring this up with GP for discussion.

It’s hard to lose weight and a vicious circle when you aren’t well. You’ll need support for this to work. Pretty sure endo and weight would be separate, not sure why a gynae has given you this as a reason, but worth asking that of GP. Do you think weight watchers would help? I’ve known some who lost a vast amount due to her health getting worse. Your GP can help with this using social prescribing.

The endo UK site has great info.

You have a right not to be left in pain, depending on how you feel about covid going to A&E is an option. I went this year during a weekday and told the GP surgery what I was doing! 😂

I’d thoroughly recommend using the econsult on your surgery website giving as much info as it allows and that you need a referral. Researching beforehand can help.

I hope this helps a little. Let us know how you get on 🙂
