Wounds after lap

Hi Ladies!

I hope you are all well. I had my Lap almost 2 weeks ago now and am feeling much better this last day or so. My 2 lower incisions are healing nicely but my belly button is really sore, stinging and look a little open. It doesn’t look infected though and I know it’s really early days yet! What I was wondering though is if anyone used any creams, gels etc to help your wounds heal up? TIA ladies x

If it’s looking ok I’d leave it for the time being, creams don’t always help with wounds and they can go mushy. If it’s oozong, red, painful speak to GP and ask for antibiotics. My belly button incision was the last to heal after lap. How do you feel generally now you’ve had surgery?

Thanks for your advice! It’s looking a little better, definitely seems more sensitive around the belly button. I’m doing ok, still stabbing pains in my pelvic area like usual but that could be down to surgery still. Did you see an improvement in pain after Lap? Thanks for taking the time to reply xx

The follow up was around eight weeks after, but I bought it forward as things didn’t improve. When I saw him he wasn’t that surprised and said the endo was deep. They have to give time to make sure. I agreed to Zoladex, he thought further surgery would be complicated (which it was last week, but different surgeon), also hoping natural menopause would kick in and help, too many fibroids and in hard to get places. Normally you’ll start to see an improvement after a few weeks I believe.

What treatment did have with lap?

Diathermy to kill the endometriosis tissue. She said it was stage 2/3. That’s all I know really. I’ve just got a telephone conversation with her on 4th Jan x

You didn’t get a discharge letter, I had a follow up letter after lap and discharge with notes on what was done this time. You can request a copy if your hospital notes, there will be a form on their website. It can take 28 days, but if you wanted to you should have them before your appointment.

How is it looking today?

I may look into this then, thanks I didn’t know I could do that. It’s looking a little better. I’ve not applied anything at all and it does seem to be drying up and scabbing a bit more xx

So glad to find this thread and know I'm not alone with the 2 weeks post lap sore belly button. I think it might be because I tried to wear my skinny jeans far too soon and the button rubbed/pulled at my skin. Just going to keep it clean and let it feel the air. So glad to be working from home so I can let it hang out!
