I had my first lap 3 weeks ago (I also have M.E) on Tuesday I saw my GP and said I felt ok and wanted to try returning to work today (not been in the job very long before lap) the dr was a little sceptical but as I was only doing a 5 hour shift she said I could go back and see how I got on. Yesterday my period (first after lap) started. Pain was as I expected but the nausea was not! I felt like I had the worst flu ever yesterday! I have also been using a tampon (which gynae said I could use after 2 wks) and a Sanitary towel together as it's very heavy and changing them every hour or so. Is that normal? I was stupid and as I had told work I would be back today I went to work. I didn't even last 2 hours before they sent me home as I felt so sick. I am going back to see my GP tomorrow and was wondering if I should mention the Sanitary towel and tampon every hour (not normal for me) or is this to be expected this soon after lap? I also wondered if anyone had any suggestions for the nausea? I'm gluten intolerant so dry toast and biscuits are out. Peppermint tea and flat lemonade are good but the effects last for maybe 30 mins at best, travel sickness bands (which I do use for motion sickness) slightly take the edge off and paracetamol has no effect. Thanks Ladies, hope you're all well x

Sorry forgot to mention... Ginger also only offers a short break from the nausea, have tried ginger chews and lemon and ginger tea. I have also tried only using towels instead of tampons incase they were causing the nausea somehow but that doesn't make a difference either.
I take Domperidone for nausea, which works quite well. You can ask your GP for a prescription, but I also believe it is available over the counter under the name Motilium 10. I think it's worth mentioning the heavy bleeding as well. I have not experienced that myself after a lap, but then I am on the pill which makes my bleeding a bit lighter generally.
Good luck and rest well, I hope you feel better soon!
Hi there. I can't live without weleda digestion calming drops. Isuffer with nausea and vomiting weekly due to severe pain and these work a treat for me.
Hope you feel better soon xx
I too have ME and Gluten Intolerance, I find that sucking on extra strong mints are the only way to cure my nausea. Also, I got both the hospital and my GP to write up an informative letter for my employer, explaining what the illness is like and all of the effects it has too. It has really helped my employer to be more understanding of my situation especially when I need to have periods of leave from work. Please do inform your GP of the extreme blood loss as it is not normal after such an operation. I hope all goes well for you and you're feeling much better soon x
Thank you all for your replies. The dr signed me off until after my period. He doesn't want to prescribe anything as I often have problems with side effects and intolerance to meds.
Fordie... I actually work for a GP's surgery
