Hi, I am new here and have been struggling recently as I have been having a menstrual bleed for six months. A quarter of the time, it is spotting but the rest of the time it is a regular flow or very heavy. I have seen my GP who has been quite dismissive as my iron and haemoglobin levels are normal. However this happened three years ago and I ended up haemorrhaging and needing a blood transfusion. Only then was my anaemia apparent from my blood test. I am really struggling with the pain and tiredness, can anyone else relate?

Six month bleed

Hello yes I have been bleeding for 12 months solid now. Iron low too. No medication like the pill of menefemic acid stops the bleeding and pain. I had ablation last month. Hoping that works.
Personally I would change my GP to another in the practice, one who will listen as months of bleeding isn’t normal.
I know how you feel as it’s so draining and debilitating each day.
Xx
Hi, it is so frustrating. Can't believe you have had the same for a year, hope the ablation starts to work soon. I have tried norethisterone and tranexamic acid but neither really helped. I had a similar situation a few years ago and the only thing that helped was Zoladex but my GP won't even entertain the idea.
You're right, I should speak to another GP as my current one isn't listening and makes me feel like I am making a fuss over nothing.
Hope you start to feel better soon as well.
Hello AllthatGlitters,
Please can you keep us posted on the ablation please. Similar circs to you been bleeding constantly but have Mirena in situ and was also on Mini Pop neither helping ablation has been discussed but never spoken to anybody who has had one.
Hope this resolves your issues take care x
Hi I'm assuming that you are much younger than me. I'm 51 and just had 7 weeks continuous bleeding. I was treated differently due to my age. I've had endo for more than 20 years. The recent procedure I had did show a fibroid now and I also have a bicornuate uterus. These can cause bleeding and pain. My bleeding has stopped but other symptoms not gone. Have you had other scans and procedures done to check what is causing the bleeding?
It does seem that many of us have to put up with this prolonged bleeding which is exhausting and not acceptable. I am 30 and I had a large fibroid removed a few years ago and recently found out that I have 3 small fibroids following an ultrasound. My GP said because they were only small; she wouldn't recommend treatment but the total area is larger than that of my original fibroid so that doesn't make much sense. Glad your bleeding has stopped but is frustrating that you still have remaining symptoms. Are you having any further treatment? I did ask for a hysterectomy a few years ago because the fibroid and one ovary were causing a lot of issues but I was told I was still young which I don't accept as a valid reason when your health is being affected.
